The Sunday Morning Bray, by Bray!
Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth so that you have sincere LOVE for your brothers, LOVE one another deeply, from the heart. 1 Peter 1:22
Looks like we will be settling on our nominee again which isnt the first or the last time we dont have a perfect Conservative in the race. Once again we have to push the ball as far as possible and then push it again next election and then the next. If we end up with Newt he is far better than Mitt Rino who is who we will be voting against, rather than for Newt. You will have to admit one thing is Newt will not back down from fights from either side and will debate the Conservative cause with facts and histoir. If only he truly had passion for the Conservative movement and didnt fall for the DC corruption.
Here in the Peoples Republic of Portland we have a special election and are campaigning for a candidate who is not a solid Conservative. He has bought into the moderate lie which says you have to appeal to the moderates to get elected and is pandering to that as well as saying nothing against obozo. We have gone through the Primary process and we have two thoughts being forwarded by the Tea Party movement. One is we need to win and send a message throughout the Country that even in a liberal bastion like Portland a Republican can be elected thanks to obama. The other is to throw the election and wait for the next one and run a more Conservative candidate then. Problem is when will then ever happen?
Both arguments have merit but we have not won an election for forty years so what is the point of throwing an election to supposedly make a point nobody will ever hear. It makes far more sense to take the seat back and beat the Dem so you can fight the next election from a position of strength rather than weakness. There also seems to be an element of self serving to let this candidate lose so then they will have an opening next election and an easier road to the nomination. The problem with that is these candidates will let us suffer for another year with a commie lib Dem so their path to a nomination that will be just as tough to win next time. Rather than unifying we are dividing so the Party will somehow come to their senses while they all sit on the sidelines.
The better path is to fight with everything you have to defeat the Dems with the candidate you have, not the one you wish you had. Do we all sit out when our candidate gets beat or has positions we dont agree with or do we win this election moving the ball to the 40 and then move it to the 50 the next election? This is the quandary the entire Country is going to be under in another six months as a candidate is going to be chosen half the Republican Party doesnt like. This candidate will likely win with 40% of the vote which means that 60% of the Country wanted someone else. Many of us had two candidates bow out and are left with a group we are going to have to settle on which will put those people in a situation our Conservatives are in here in Oregon.
Do you sit it out and wait for next election or do you fight this one and worry about the next election then? Here is the strategy many of us Conservatives are following living in a commie lib utopia like Oregon. Fight and organize at the same time. We are coordinating our neighborhoods while we are campaigning for our candidate. He is actually a good guy whose heart is in the right place it is just his handlers have convinced him to play the middle. We are going to win this election and are doing everything we can to make that happen. While we are canvassing our neighborhoods we are also building our network for future elections by mapping our districts so they will be efficiently set up so we will know where all the signs will be placed and volunteers are located. This kills two birds with one stone.
Next election we can tap into our neighborhoods and have a leg up on the competition as we provide a network for the candidates to work from and begin winning these elections from a grassroots level. This will minimize the professional campaign managers while maximizing the voice of the people. This not only helps the candidate who is running but gives the people whose candidate was beaten in the primary a reason for campaigning as they look to the next election. This brings enthusiasm to all the people giving them a purpose to stay involved with the process.
We Conservatives have a hallmark of being big on the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. The most basic foundation of the Republic is the primary process. Whether we like it or not when a candidate wins the Primary the people have spoken and we Conservatives are supposed to listen to the people. When the candidate here won with 75% there was no question what the will of the people was so my duty is to work to the best of my ability to fight for those voters. We are making amazing inroads into our towns and learning how to win these elections. If we all went home when our candidates lost we would be going backwards rather than winning and moving forward.
So if Newt was to get the nomination he would not be my first, second or third choice but he would be the primary voters choice and a far better than Mitt or Ohbummer. This is why Conservatives need to be ready to win with the candidate we have not the one we wish we had. We need to develop our neighborhoods to become effective election machines for not only 2012 but for elections down the road. This will give our candidates a better foundation to work from and a better chance of actually winning those primaries and generals. Lets stop the childish pouting and foot stomping and put our heads down and win the elections and truly make a difference. A President Newt is one who can articulate our views and will not back down like Repubs are so willing to do, he will just need the Tea Party to remind him to stay on the right path.
Pray for America
Note: The above opinion is not necessarily mine, but FReeper Brays. If you wish to discuss this, please ping Bray.
Wow yet another not so stellar TV gang of guests. I gotta travel anyway.
Thanks for thread AB. Looks like some urban renewal going on in Iran. http://www.foxnews.com/world/2011/12/09/images-iranian-nuclear-facility-provide-intel-into-recent-explosion/
Glad to hear that ABC is getting rid of the hair-brained lefty lady.
You know...the one with the British accent who thinks Obama is a conservative.
Also, the continued absence allows Moot to lie and NEVER be challenged.
Moot's latest fib is that he worked only in the
Not one, 1, MSM person will challenge him, of course.
And who will America believe, Moot --- or their (MSM-claimed-)lying eyes:
Well, I got to go to church early this morning; the Archbishop of Mobile will be there!
What?!? I missed that. Can you post a link?
Newt's history is as I have been writing about for the last five years. He's still an 80/20 kinda guy,I see no change................
Since I won't be around long this morning I will get to what I think was the important happening of the week--zero letting the chicoms/iran have our drone.
What a disaster!
All he had to do was go pick it up with some air support and a chopper or blow it to smithereens. How hard is that!
My guess is between Hillary, his wife and Valerie Jarrett they convinced him to do nada, vote present once again which he is used to doing.
Hillary cause she knew doing nothing would make him look bad,his wife because she has new boyfriend and does not give a dam any more and Jarrett because she is just dumb.
My only comment is that I admire the mental and intestinal fortitude of anyone who can tolerate the smug, biased, obsessed-with-trifles moderators and panelists who view anything beyond the District of Columbia as a foreign nation.
I didn’t hear but its about time that was a no-brainer. Christiiiaaaannnnneeee Ahmmm so pour like Dianne Sawyer last night was waaaay over her head.
Does he get to wear once of those funky hats?
Also, some scary stuff here. You gotta wonder if this is what is really going on.
Don’t see Newt in all that...
MTP trying to hype RP and give him a big enough ego to run 3rd P.
There are reports from multiple sources Amanpour is out for low ratings; she’s returning to CNN etc. I don’t think anything is fixed in concrete yet. It’s mostly speculation. Google Amanpour abc and click on news tab. Daily Beast, Breitbart Big Journalism, LA Time Blog are a few of the sources.
Good Morning Folks!
Well, having watched the “debate” last night; it looks like they are leading forth all the lesser conservatives to prepare for the halal slaughter. Of course conspicuously absent are appearances by the Romulan and Noot...to be slaughtered later.
Of course, we have to endure another unsolicited lecture by McCain’s butt boy. (easily supplanted by a remote flick to some preferrable infomercial)
Bray...Excellant, articulate as always...You put it all together so it makes sense! And for anyone to understand, even those politically naive..that’s why I forward your posts on!
You are US Politics 101 — an education in a nutshell!
Yes, Rod; it’s called a Miter. My daughter is Altar serving and she will have to hold his miter and another kid will have to hold his staff or Croiset.
Wallace asking Perry about the $10,000 bet from Myth.
Wallace is banging on Perry’s gay-oriented commercial. Raises polling that the economy is the top concern of 70 percent of voters and social issues are 15 percent. Perry counters by mentioning his economic agenda.
Gov. Perry has handled himself very, very well.
He has addressed PerryCARE and the overruling
of his mandate honestly.
Despite FOX pimping Romney from the first slide,
calling him the ‘leader’, Gov. Perry has
rebutted the chief Romney-pimp Chris Wallace
over and over.
Beginning with Romney’s $10,000 bet and through
Wallace’s endless acting as the lawyer for
Obama while using outtakes of errors of Gov. Perry
when the governor was OBVIOUSLY exhausted
in the videos.
Shame on the shameless FOX News and Wallace.
==> The Winner:
Gov. Perry, today you showed your conservatism
and executive function.
We in Colorado can relate to your post today. If we cannot get the ideal candidate today we have to take what we can get for now and use the time in between to organize more and better for future elections.
The Ron Paul supporters understand this and have created their own cabal of supporters to push their candidate. Main stream conservatives have to do the same thing so we can win in the future.
For our RINO group, it’s easier to challenge an incumbent Republican than a Democrat and the Republican would be far superior to a sitting Democrat. IMHO, it’s dumb to lose elections to the Democrats when we could have won with a liberal Republican. Win what we can and use the time to educate and persuade others to support more conservative candidates in the future.
Wow cool, Catholics really know how to dress, meanwhile DNC Dave is trying to get RUPaul to run as a third party guy to kill us off. They aren’t tooooo desperate! Almost a year before Newt takes it all in a landslide.
I saw that, classic miscue, should have used more chalk on his stik!
Great plan it has to be used at all levels if we truly want rino extinction its the only long term want to get rid of them.(Is your front door still frozen shut—I gotta go turn the a/c on)
Now badgering Perry about prayer in school issue and Supreme Court decision.
The 1A cuts both ways obviously stating: >>Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;<<
Perry stating that Americans disagree with the SCOTUS decision, and would support a Constitutional amendment to change it.
It probably could be done easier than that...he would only appoint constructionist judges
But on Fox News Sunday, Perry was asked about his inability to recall Sotomayor's name and the eight justices comment, and Perry said he knew there were nine justices, but had no idea how eight came out of his mouth.
So once again, he was not prepared for an interview or debate. He had an effective defense for his eight justices comment that his campaign had prepared, he had to know he would be asked about it, yet he stumbled and reinforced the notion that he is a bumbler instead.
Perry keeps snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.
First he caves on nat. tv over the pipeline and then asks DNC Dave how much is enough on taxes for the rich, what a putz.
Gov. Perry handled it perfectly.
First, he answered it.
That puts him above the rest, BTW.
Second, he addressed it.
It is over for THAT strawman-Romney-MSM issue.
Better get over it.
Meanwhile Graham may have stumbled on something that shuts the dems up on class warfare:
HOW MUCH IS ENOUGH MR. PRESIDENT
We don’t care about any “bipartisan” socialist-bait compromises.
When the parties agree, the people get screwed.
Morning AB, All.
Pleasant December morning here in the swamps of Delaware. Busy week last week, busy one coming up.
Just a reminder ahead of time, should FreeRepublic suddenly get weird, just keep hitting the refresh key over and over. It’s been giving out this 404 message the last two Sundays, always during this thread, one of the most read threads on this forum given its years in existence and dependability. Which gives me a break to thank you AB, for doing this thread.
I wrote an article about the Sheriff and the councilman here in Sussex county. It’s going to be put on some (in)famous Delaware web sites. It’s a longish thing but full of a bit of sarcasm and it’s probably the only account of how it all happened, from soup to knees in the groin. the players feature sons of a famous military general and the current Vice-President.
If you’re a political junkee, this is a story for you, AND, it’s all true.
Currently watching Fox News Sunday, will now begin paying attention.
Front door is open and the sun is coming out. Even with the temp being 23 at the moment.
And yeah, conservatives here have to battle both Democrats and the Republicans who help Democrats on occasion get elected. Many of our top GOP leaders fall for it, helping a Democrat without realizing they are hurting the rest of us. It’s still about money and power for the political class, regardless of party.
Exactly right, bray.
Some of us have already been disappointed in one way or another. I wanted Sarah Palin to run and to win. When my governor, Rick Perry, entered the race I was torn because I really like him and think he would make an excellent president.
However, I stuck with Sarah until she opted out. So I’ve had a candidate all along who’s been misunderstood, maligned and mocked, but whom I knew to be a good man and a good conservative.
I’ve often said jokingly that Newt Gingrich was a dirty word on Free Republic only a few months or years ago and that someone could be banned under the profanity rule for even using his name.
However, he gained enormous popularity in the debates and became the front runner. I like it that he’s ahead of Romney now and I think Romney will have a very hard time regaining momentum.
I really liked Newt on the Palestine thing last night.
All the candidates seemed better to me than they have before, with the possible exception of Bachmann. I just don’t think she has substance.
I thought Perry was excellent and the most likeable person up there.
Thank the good Lord I had it on DVR so I could fast forward every time Diane Sawyer came on. Could that woman be more irritating? I don’t see how.
Please don’t anybody go off in a huff and vow not to vote.
We need that Obama person out of our lives, out of our government and, if we’re lucky, out of the country.
Explosion Damaged Iranian Nuclear Site ( Looks like surface area surface destroyed)
Wrong. Perry himself put this issue back in play with his own comments here. He just never seems to prepare adequately for debates and interviews.
I love it when the Bishop comes. May be silly but I kinda feel blessed when I get his blessing.
I am so annoyed that I forgot Perry was going to be on Fox News Sunday and now I’ll have to watch the re-run.
Hope he took it to that supercilious bturd Chris Wallace... can’t stand him.
Can’t stand anybody much on the reporter side ... think that’s what gave Newt his initial bump, people loved it that he stuck it to the press and the questioners.
If you’re determined to see miscues, you will see miscues.
Newt talks so fast one can’t even catch his miscues if he makes any.
Thanks for this thread every Sunday AB...a must read every week for me. Could’ve sworn I heard on Fox that Romney was going to do his first ever Sunday Morning Talk Show interview today. Obviously I’m mistaken, unless he’s on GSN, more specifically Lets Make A Deal...do you want door #1, door #2, or door #3 (reply: which ever one gets the most applause, Drew). Interview ends..
Much as I hate to say I tole you so, it was a month or so back that I said that a good strategy for the Repubs would be to keep repeating over and over and over and over...well like you...HOW MUCH IS ENOUGH?
I've seen the most visceral of liberals shut up on the rare occassions when someone (never an elected Repub who is too busy reaching across the aisle with polished nails) asks at what percentage would you stop?
Say someone were to say....say...a John Boehner...however such a strange confrontation were to happen, but say a John Boehner were to risk mussed head hair and ask a Jeanine Garafolo that since the millionaires and billionaires now pay 53% of their income, and she thinks it should be raised....does she think 60% of their income would not be a fairer amount? Maybe 75%?
They always get tongue-tied when it's laid out that starkly. Cause us boobs out here in la-la land UNDERSTAND THESE PERCENTAGES! We know that whew, 53% of our paychecks would be a helluva lot, we'd sweat that they'd start going after US in those big percentages.
The Republican elect should be repeating this mantra every chance it gets.
Might lose them some invites to cocktail parties so it's a big gamble.
Uh, yeah, sure. Perry's miscues are all in my mind. Never mind his single-digit polling after being a front runner. Never mind that his polling sank after he started opening his mouth.
Newt talks so fast one cant even catch his miscues if he makes any.
I guess that's what you have to claim since you can't point to a specific gaffe by Newt.
Newt does his homework. Perry doesn't. That is becoming clear.
I think its a great argument! It seems to work. Shut up DNC Dave in a heartbeat!!Truth is its never enough for the commiecrats.
Yes, so did I.
Paul Gigot and Liz Cheny disagreeing with Noots position, I think they are wrong.
Screw the "invented people"...they can go to hell.
Newt handled being piled on about the marital issue pretty well.
He had no real defense because he’s got a little problem there but he stayed good natured and used the ‘I’ve changed,’ thing.
They showed Mrs. Newt in the audience and that is one tough looking babe. Not criticizing, just sayin’.
I’ve complimented Newt on this thread for what he said and did that I liked very much.
I believe you might do better to air your dislike of Perry somewhere else ... say on a Perry thread ... because the Sunday morning talk show thread has stayed wonderfully free of vitriol as a rule.
