US proposes unmanned border crossing with Mexico

BIG BEND NATIONAL PARK, Texas (AP) -- The bloody drug war in Mexico shows no sign of relenting. Neither do calls for tighter border security amid rising fears of spillover violence.

This hardly seems a time the U.S. would be willing to allow people to cross the border legally from Mexico without a customs officer in sight. But in this rugged, remote West Texas terrain where wading across the shallow Rio Grande undetected is all too easy, federal authorities are touting a proposal to open an unmanned port of entry as a security upgrade.

By the spring, kiosks could open up in Big Bend National Park allowing people from the tiny Mexican town of Boquillas del Carmen to scan their identity documents and talk to a customs officer in another location, at least 100 miles away.

“... you’d have to be a real idiot to pick the only place with security in 300 miles of the border to try to sneak across.”

That’s the real give away in the article, that there’s no security for (at least) 300 miles.

Come to DC, the biggest insane asylum of them all, besides San Francisco, Oakland and the state of Vermont.

Under the Motor Voter Fraud Act, the border officer “100 miles away” will have to offer them the chance to register to vote.

Huh, talk about a coincidence. My great aunt’s family lives in the area, both on the American and Mexican side. Actually, from talking with them, I can help explain the situation there. You got families there who own land on either side of the border, who cross to visit their immediate family on the other side, or tend to their land.

Why is Rick Perry compelled to spend millions of Texas taxpayer dollars hispandering to illegals in the form of tuition handouts?

What tuition handout? You mean in-state tuition? They are paying “resident” rates but I guess you had rather see them head back to Mexico and become drug mules.

Hopefully one of these days, these US educated illegals will actually head back to their birth country and make real changes in their country and government.

It is cheaper to allow them to attend a school than to house them in prison.

The problem has existed in Texas for decades. Perry didn’t create the miss. He has done more about border control than any Texas governor. The problem lays directly at the feet of the US Federal government and those that dictate policy. It has been 6 decades since we had immigration enforcement and any real border protection. Not one President (Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon, Ford, Reagan, GWH Bush, Clinton,GW Bush, Obama) have exercised and executed the laws of the land.

Lay the blame where it rightly belongs.

$33 M in Texas taxpayer money and counting in Perry’s illegal tuition handouts through 2010. I’m sure it’s even more now. That’s money that could be, should be sent back to Texans rather than coddling ILLEGALS and encouraging more of the same.

I hear voter registrations cards will be made available with DNC recruiters present ... The country is lost, period.
