Newt Gingrich Responds To Glenn Beck (He doesn't deny being a progressive)
WGIR AM 610 and 96.7 the Wave with Host Paul Westcott ^ | December 12th | Newt Gingrich(Audio)

Posted on 12/12/2011 9:09:39 AM PST by Halfmanhalfamazing

when you're talking about Glenn Beck now he actually, the other day, called you a progressive on FOX Business channel. What do you say to that sort of claim?"

Gingrich: "I don't know. It depends on what standard you're using, you know? The fact is I balanced the budget for four consecutive years. And we did so by cutting taxes and increasing employment so people went back to work, they left welfare, they left food stamps, they left unemployment, they left Medicaid. Who else has that record of achievement? I worked with Reagan in '79, '80. I worked with Reagan in defeating the Soviet Empire. I think those are relatively conservative credentials."

Agreed! The pro-Newt crowd is pretty ruthless here in its defense of him and their unashamed ability to throw venom at those who don’t like him. Beck’s reasoning is off but he’s right in the fact that Newt is no conservative. Someone who says that free speech should be curtailed to protect the people is not a conservative.

Newt is a progressive he is not conservative. I just don’t understand why many of FR care not to see what is plainly in their sight. You people need to open your eyes and quite playing politics.

Even if newt beat Obama our country will fail under his leadership. The time for electing republicans simply because they are Republicans is not good enough anymore. We need solid social and economic conservatives that support the founding fathers principles and our constitution. A slight tick right won’t help us when the left has dragged us so far to the left. Newt already said he would support parts of Obama’s health plan and if we don’t eliminate that whole thing we are totally screwed right out the gate.

Great, I can vote for the Progressive Obama or the Progressive Grinch.

Deck is fully stacked, have a happy voting day.

Progressives are traitors and should be run out of the country for the damage they have done. Anybody that likes the idea of a New World Order is a progressive traitor. Republican and Democrat mean pretty much nothing these days. One party is Marxist Mafia goons trying to destroy the Constitution, the other is Congressional Mafia goons trying to do the same.

Gingrich is the last conservative standing.

Only he and Romney are left...you support Romney?

You mean he and romney are the last two progressives standing? I see two real conservatives in the race and its not newt and its not Romney or Perry.

George W Bush is more conservative than newt and that’s not saying much.

Conservatives will see their mistake about a week after the nomination.

I don't like the current situation at all. I'm not a fan of the current front runners

I do know this however. Obama CANNOT be allowed 4 more years.

Conservatives, the left has destroyed our best hopes. We have lost that battle for now. We must NOT also lose the war.

Goal number 1 - defeat Obama. Fix the rest later.

Gingrich will collapse once he gets the nomination. That’s just the way it is.

You a Romney supporter or a Paulist nut?

What hubris! Newt taking credit for all of Reagan’s achievements.

The man is a megalomaniac.

I am leaning towards michelle bachman right now. But it really doesn’t matter. I want to support the most conservative candidate out there and newt is not that person.

Not sure how you think I support romney, the man also a progressive republican and I don’t support progressive republicans.

I saw this same crap 3 years ago with McCain. I came out against him here and i will come out against those like him here every time. Newt is no better and he wo rks with the other side when it helps his cause.

“Newt taking credit for all of Reagan’s achievements.”

Umm No. He never said any such thing lol.

He’s talking about his achievements as Speaker, where he balanced the budget, got limited tax cuts from Clinton, welfare to workfare, etc.

Clinton was dragged kicking and screaming into all of that stuff, but the GOP got it done with Gingrich as Speaker.

Newt the Flip-Flopper:

Five months after refusing to sign an Iowa conservative group’s controversial “Marriage Vow,” GOP presidential front-runner Newt Gingrich has endorsed the pledge by promising to push a sweeping conservative social agenda, Politico reported.

In a lengthy email to the group, The Family Leader, Gingrich vowed to fight for a host of key right wing issues, including a constitutional amendment to ban same sex marriage and a Reagan-era policy that would stop tax dollars from funding abortions overseas.

The former House Speaker also vowed to remain faithful to his wife, Callista.

“I also pledge to uphold the institution of marriage through personal fidelity to my spouse and respect for the marital bonds of others,” Gingrich said in the message.

“Your use of half-truths is a clear indication that you are either another spoiled crybaby Conservative, “Oh Waaaaa. That candidate is not conservative ENOUGH!” or a DU troll who wants us to ignore the record.”

When Newt loses to Obama, which he will if nominated, there will be only one difference between those of us who opposed his candidacy and those of you who supported it. WE will still have our integrity.

Conservatives are the real progressives. We want the United States to progress by adopting conservative principles.

Um, no. That's not what progressives mean by progressivism. Progressivism fundimentally is utopianism at its core and developed from the idea of Social Darwinism -- that man would evolve into a more civilized being through social pressures. Progressives took it a step further: Why wait? Why not force "progress"? The end of this is, obviously, concentration camps and gas chambers.

Unlike the other ankle biters, you at least have the courage to state who you support.

Having said that, Santorum doesn’t even have the political acumen, at 3% of the vote, to stop attacking his old friend Gingrich. Being from Pa., he would have at least been given a shot to be a VP...but now he is just politically dead.

Beck is saying that there’s no difference between Obama and Newt—and has thus passed into dickweed territory as far as I’m concerned.
