The Karachi Post in Pakistan claimed that the attack was linked to a sentence in an honour killing case. It said the parents of Sadia Sheikh were sentenced on Monday when there had been a bomb alert in the court.

Well... there is a pretty obvious reason why the West developed past disease, poverty and violence sooner than the rest of the planet.
For millions and millions of people over the centuries, accepting Christianity was a gargantuan step away from barbarism and ignorance.
And as long as you're the "right" muslim, then islam IS a religion of peace. Sure shias and sunnis will slaughter each other at the drop of a hat, but once everyone agrees on the "right" sort of muslim to be, then islam IS a religion of peace...
As long as you're the right color of muslim... Sure, arab muslims hate black muslims, and have a long history of enslaving them, but hey, once all the black muslims are either dead or slaves, then islam IS a religion of peace...

Christianity was successful in eliminating the idea in the pagan Roman society it supplanted.
The British struggled against honor killing when they ruled India (including today’s Pakistan), with mixed results. They even outlawed sati (or suttee), but that still happens even to this day.
Some ancient customs just never go away. That being said, it’s a barbaric practice. Honor killing is actually illegal in Pakistan....so what makes them think that it’s legal in the Western World?
They (the people) don’t recognize the rule of law only of religion.

Ignorance is a disease.... it’s exactly why the fundamentalists want only boys to have ‘education’. It is why ‘education’ for them, only consists of ‘I hate the West’ dogma. It’s not real education which will ever produce doctors, engineers or teachers.

Yep. I remember reading right after we "liberated" Iraq the street vendors were being threatened by the religious leaders to stop selling ice, under the threat of death, as Mohamed did not have ice.

It still seems to be too early to pin this on Islamic jihad. It is very possible, I’ve seen reports, that it wasn’t.
Suppression of reporting of any possible link to Islam should be expected. Look at how the U.S. government has officially classified Nadal Hassan’s rampage at Fort Hood as “workplace violence.”
