A gun and grenade attack in the centre of the Belgian city of Liege has killed at least two people and wounded about 25 including a toddler, media say.
Witnesses say a man in his 40s threw grenades at a bus stop in Place Saint Lambert, a busy square. At least one other man is thought to be involved.

A two-year-old child is reportedly fighting for life in hospital. Six other victims are said to be gravely injured.
One of two or more assailants threw stun grenades into the courthouse while another was hurled at a bus shelter, RTL-TV1 said.
Shots were fired across the square by gunmen posted on the rooftop of a bakery shop, with further shots heard later from across town.
Police cordoned off the square and gave chase to the assailants, one of whom was reportedly killed. The gunmen are thought to be hiding in Liege cathedral.

Belgian news site Lesoir.be has identified the attacker who was shot by police as Nordine Amrani, who was sentenced Tuesday to 29 years in prison for possession of weapons and cultivation of cannabis plants.

2.14pm: The details of the attack remain unclear, with many differing reports still coming out.
The mayor of Liège, Willy Demeyer, has spoken to La Meuse newspaper after talks with the police, and has denied reports that three attackers were involved.
The attacker is understood to have acted alone; he had hand grenades and a kalachnikov. He shot into the crowd on the place Saint Lambert before being killed himself by a grenade. There was also another person killed. The attacker is known to the police, notably for drug offences.
A newspaper, Sudpresse, says it has had official confirmation that the dead attacker was named Nordine Amrani. This could not be independently confirmed. It writes:
Nordine Amrani is a resident of Liege aged 32 years old.
It says he was convicted in 2008 by the court of Liège to 58 months behind bars for the possession of weapons and for growing 2,800 cannabis plants as part of a criminal gang. None of this could be immediately confirmed.
That was the early speculation based on a report from a Pakistani newspaper they picked up. There had been a bomb threat tied to the trial.
Its looking now more likely that this was a known criminal acting alone. How he got a Kalashnikov and grenades (that may turn out to be flash-bangs) is unknown.

A jihadi cannot have a criminal record and still be a jihadi? To make a case for it being a "criminal acting alone", you must supply at least a plausible criminal motive for the attack.
In the absence of such a motive, the only motive that remains is a jihad response to yesterday's honor killing convictions.
