Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani said Newt Gingrich may be the better presidential candidate than Mitt Romney, making him the latest high-profile Republican to try to add credibility to Mr. Gingrichs surge in the polls.
My gut tells me right now as I look at it that Gingrich might actually be the stronger candidate, because I think he can make a broader connection than Mitt Romney to those Reagan Democrats, Mr. Giuliani said Monday night on CNN.

Anyone but Rudy McRomney.
Since Rudy is anathema on FR, may we all now drop our support of Newt?
see above
Boiler plate liberalism vs. professorial odysseys in alternative governance. At least Newt wont bore us to death.
Birds of a feather, as far as perversion goes... No surprise that Newt would get the Giuliani nod.
At this point, even if Putin endorsed him, I’d vote for Newt.
This should cinch the Republican Cross Dresser vote for the Newt!
priceless. One RINO to endorse another RINO.
Rudy was also Amnesty freak, though at least on the other 99 issues he was more conservative than Newt.
Please pass this on.
Giuliani backing your choice of candidates, is sort of like your sister backing your choice for girl-friend.
Is she really convinced you picked a good woman, or is she merely happy you’re going to get what’s coming to you?
is the whole thing available somewhere?
If Newt eliminates Romney and Perry then knocks off Newt, in my present, highly conflicted, opinion, would be the best outcome. More changes probably to come later.
Looks like Gingrich is moving into the mainstream, endorsement wise. Interesting..
I wouldnt put that past Newt, actually.
One of the differences between Mitt and Newt is that Newt wasn’t in office when he did these things that he is being criticized for. Newt made speeches saying things that conservatives don’t like “Reagan era is over” or praising FDR or the individual mandate during the 1990’s, and he did things like the ad with Nancy Pelosi out of office. Mitt was in office when he did things that conservatives dislike. I’m not voting for either.
“Since Rudy is anathema on FR, may we all now drop our support of Newt?”
LOL
While Newt is better than Romney, Newt is a one-world order guy, if we look at the history.
My other post,
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2819629/posts
has the whole video at C-Span.
At 50:40, Newt begins describing how he plans on remaking islam.
IMHO, insanely continuing the Republican establishment strategy. Sounds like Americanism to keep conservative rubes happy. Opens markets for big corporations.
But our so-called conservative elites don’t realize that this ensures that islam can take root in America and keep having babies until they gain enough influence to really islamize America.
Newt thinks we’re going to secularize islam. Tame it down. “teach them about modernity”.
Woo-Hoo!
Rudy the RINO, gets it right, bucks the North-East Establishment and ruins CNN’s bash Newt fest.
Yes, I am laughing!
watch later
While I am posting this in response to you, there are a lot more posts that I have read here that probably deserve more credit for my response than yours, so don’t take offense. This is not focused on you.
Personally, I’m looking for a progression that looks sort of like this: /s
Newt knocks off Romney. Perry then knocks off Newt. Santorum knocks off Perry. Bachmann knocks off Santorum. Cain knocks off Bachmann. Ron Paul knocks off Ron Paul. Palin knocks off Cain. Giuliani and Dame Edna knock the whole bunch off, and declare a national holiday, before running off for a three month vacation across Asia, leaving the nation in the lurch.
I don’t think Rudy is a RINO other than on a few social issues. He is against illegal immigration and Obamacare, which is more than we can say for either of our two frontrunners. Granted, he is a gun grabber and a gay lover.
The opinion of one thrice married politician about another thrice married politician.
“because I think he can make a broader connection than Mitt Romney”
I think that is one of Newts strengths. He can connect to the average voter in terms they can understand and bypass the msm. I believe Reagan and Christy also have those qualities. Another is he has kept his attacks on fellow Republicans to a minimum. Third is he has enough conservative credentials to be to the right of Romney. He is not scared to take on all comers in a debate/discussion of the issue such as the recent Newt/Huntsman debate in New Hampshire. IMHO these are the reasons he is in the lead.
“the whole bunch off, leaving the nation in the lurch”
By Jove, I think you’ve got it!
At least we wouldn’t get stuck with some hare brain signing even More idiot restrictions into law that way. :)
“This should cinch the Republican Cross Dresser vote for the Newt!”
I believe she has recently moved her affections from Christie to Romney.
ROFL!
But I don’t think Dame Edna is an American citizen. ;)
Very astute points.
Where Gingrich has praised some leftist legislation, Romney signed it into effect.
what if eric holder endorsed him?
I actually thought of that, but I couldn’t resist. He’s British if I remember accurately.
When I was a kid, the Dame Edna sort was not as ‘out there’ as they are today.
Of course I realized what Dame Edna was, but this guy was a laugh riot whenever I saw him on television. It was small exposures, and best that way.
OTOH, the issue of citizenship would never stop Rudy from boinking a “lady” of his liking.
Ok, the “crazy Reformed guy” in me just needs to note this.
Newt has a policy or two that I think are not right.
He’s obviously very much part of the political fabric, so he can’t help but be an establishment politician.
That being said, I do see a man who may have changed from 15 years ago. I have little doubt that he feels differently than he used to as he looks back on his life so far - based on things I have heard him say.
And us “crazy Reformed” so often talk about the conversion spoken of in the Bible, i.e., salvation.
So I pause before I think a man unworthy of office solely because of sins committed prior to conversion. Which I can’t say the moment a man is saved, of course, but - he has publicly stated that he is returning to faith in Christ, so something good appears to be going on.
It just jumps out at me, from my Reformed view.
Many come to walk with God later in life, where they did not before that.
Divorce should be an important part of evaluating a candidate, but we really should look at all the candidates - and every aspect of each one, IMHO. We may find that we’re only able to look for the best peach in the basket.
It’s not the marriages I’m concerned about, it’s the big-government overreach into people’s lives.
I’d like a candidate that will make sure the government does less, not more. And keep us safe.
Excuse me, but did you mean “Dame” of his liking? LOL
Take care bud.
See! This guy gets it! ;^)
He was a wonderful Mayor. Like other N.E. Republicans, so-called “social issues” like LIFE, don’t much matter to them, or to Rudy, except in their “personal belief system,” never mind that the pro-abortion position goes against his own Church’s teaching -— so that issue alone was a deal killer for me when he ran for the GOP- nomination.
Like I said, I think he was a wonderful Mayor during 911 and he comes across really likeable and I fully understand why people like him.
EVERYONE has enough conservative credentials to be to the right of Romney. Unfortunately, it looks like we're settling for a 'progressive'. Again.
It’s not the marriages that rankle me, either. It is the cruelty he and Giuliani have shown their wives while they conducted extramarital affairs. If they can treat their wives like that, how will they treat the country?
Rudy’s correct. That’s why I don’t get all these NRO people and other pundits pushing Romney so hard. Gingrich has baggage but he’s about 10x more convincing then Romney when making points.
Saving for later ... :)
Anyone but Rudy McRomNewt.
Pee Wee Herman might be a better candidate than Romney.
That doesn’t make him a good candidate.
Well, ok then. Is he a changed man ? Perhaps you can think about that. I don’t know if he truly is, he seems like he has a different perspective.
So, IMHO, I file that away. Then I move on to the issues and go down the checklist.
Inside the beltway - check. Ok, maybe he’s changed. File that away.
Wants to “bring muslims into modernity”. Oops. Not going to work. This guy wants more muslims to come to America so they can go back to their home country and convince millions of people that want to kill us to change and become like us ? Hmmm.. not so smart.
Healthcare. Has a lot of grand ideas which are NOT simply: force the private sector to come up with it’s own solutions and get government out of the way and don’t have the government helping big medicine to make even more money since they don’t need help they need competition. check. This is scary. He has a lot of ideas in this area. They talk about parnterships, and patient-centered, and they go on and on. Big plans by politicians never work out well.
Other than that, if he’s elected, maybe things will work out ok. I don’t know. I am just so sick of politicians. And government - imposing “programs”. And running government schools. Everything is just more of the same. More mindless indoctrination. More government jobs. More debt. More laws taking away guns. More laws encouraging immorality. Which results in more immorality. More taxes. More laws against Christianity.
LLS
I used to be the biggest supporter of Gingrich, but I no longer trust him. It seems that he’ll take up whatever issue is the flavor of the day and then abandon it next week. I don’t know how he can call another candidate a flip flopper, when he reminds me of a big, fat fish flipping around in the bottom of a boat. I’d still take him over Obama, but I wouldn’t rest easy. (And neither should Callista.)
I found it very interesting.
I haven’t given up on Perry yet
Falame away
TT
Yes, we know Rudy is wrong and misguided. Stop supporting Newt ASAP.
