ISU Lecturer To Students: Don’t Send Gifts To American Soldiers Overseas, They Don’t Deserve Them
Andrew Breitbart's Big Peace ^ | December 13, 2011 | Peter Schweizer

Posted on 12/13/2011 3:47:37 PM PST by 2ndDivisionVet

College Republicans at Iowa State University encouraged students to send gifts to American men and women in uniform serving overseas. Bad idea, says one faculty member. Do I really need to say anything about these absurd comments from Thomas Walker at Iowa State University, where he is a lecturer “in the intensive English and orientation program”?

I read in Tuesday’s Iowa State Daily that the College Republicans have begun collecting sundries for U.S. soldiers serving in Afghanistan and Iraq. Why? Doesn’t the U.S. Army victual its soldiers? Don’t their families send them yuletide goodies? Aren’t GIs paid enough to buy what they need, and even what they want?

He goes on:

Necessities should be doled out to people who really need them and who might get them if not for the hundreds of billions of dollars being funneled to the Pentagon in the greatest squandering of money on the planet.

And on:

Why do Republicans care so much about the military? Because the military-industrial complex is dear to their simplistic laissez-faire fantasies: a bottom-line patriotism that excludes the people at the bottom.

Since its the Christmas season and I’m generally and optimist, I will leave with this: at least he’s not teaching in the econ or poli sci department.

Yep that’s perfect advice. Thanks so much!

If we all put some time in, we can show this moron what’s really going on.

Regents Address Controversial Letter In ISU Paper

By Diane Heldt, Reporter

http://www.kcrg.com/news/local/Regents-Address-Controversial-Letter-In-ISU-Paper-135291298.html

Regent President Pro Tem Bruce Rastetter said Thursday the board wanted to be clear that the regents do not share Walker’s opinion.

I, along with many Iowans, was offended and disgusted by the unfortunate and highly inappropriate remarks made against our soldiers in uniform,” Rastetter said. “Not only did Mr. Walker insult our sons and daughters in uniform – he also questioned the kind and humanitarian efforts made by our students to ensure that our soldiers know we care about them and are exceedingly grateful for their service.”

Looks like he just found out ISU isn't UC-Berkeley.

Wonder if his contract will be renewed?

Here is my e-mail to Thomas walker:

Tommy.....I am embarassed to have a degree from ISU and will inform the alumni board that from now on I will be using my funds to support the troops as long as ISU has the funds to employ @ssholes like you. It is the brave soldiers who protect our Constitution that give you the freedom to spout your verbal diarrhea and give me the right to tell you what a low life, lower than whale shit on the bottom of the ocean, pond scum sucking magot you are.

BTW1...I sent a package several years ago to a young soldier stationed in Iraq whose mother and father had died and did not have family to send him a package. So, not all soldiers have families to send them packages and furthermore it is none of your damn business to tell others what they should do with their time and money. Elitists like you think it is your right to tell everyone else how they should live their lives but God forbid if we tell you how to live your life.

BTW2....Thomas Walker at Iowa State University, where he is a lecturer “in the intensive English and orientation program”? This class sounds like a worthless waste of taxpayer funds and a waste of time for students. On the other hand......I would love an opportunity to pass along some “Intensive English” to you.

Merry Christmas!!!!!

He’s an idiot and here’s why: many students today are veterans. One of them might walk up to him in class while he’s lecturing and knock his teeth out. Perhaps while wearing a prosthetic.

Here is what I sent:

“I read in Tuesday’s Iowa State Daily that the College Republicans have begun collecting sundries for U.S. soldiers serving in Afghanistan and Iraq. Why? Doesn’t the U.S. Army victual its soldiers? Really?

You actually make me embarassed to have a degree from ISU. It is those brave soldiers — away from their families, friends and loved ones — who protect our Constitution and freedom. And all you can do is publicly diss and humiliate our soldiers and the people that are honored to send them Christmas gifts. Really?

There are many reasons that make me proud of my home state and my alma mater, but you sir, are not one of them.

When the chairman of the board of directors makes a statement as that, I doubt it.

I do not know about the culture of an Iowa University, but I know about a couple here and a either of them, this would be a career killer.

Wonder if he will receive and unexpected Christmas gift? “a pink slip”.

I hate what these cretin are doing to the culture and civility of this nation.

Unlike Obastard said, We ARE still a Christian nation.

Oh, dear. I do hope you spelled "maggot" correctly in your actual email. That vermin will no doubt use misspellings to confirm to himself that he is so much more intelligent than pro-military zealots (as he would deem us).

Wouldn't even wish it on this guy but he's obviously never seen the front( wish he could spend a week with our soldiers in the front his essay his only food, his only defense), the time away from loved ones, from family, from sharing a crinkled picture tucked away in a cover ofr a wallet, of a prayer and a hope so far away locked and loaded defending some mountain FOB eating MRE's and hoping to God the mortars and that dam**d sniper just gives them all one night of rest.

No money can be paid to a man( or women these days) that lays down his life for his brothers, his sisters, defends his country with selflessness while professors in America spew their hate. "Tis the season to lecture how to be a scoungy scrooge.

Prideful prick!
