Gov. Jerry Brown on Tuesday ordered $1 billion in midyear cuts to California's budget that will result in pain for students who rely on school buses to get to class, mothers who depend on child care subsidies to keep working and support programs for the developmentally disabled.

Brown, a Democrat, said that the state's revenues will fall about $2.2 billion below the $88.4 billion he and state lawmakers had hoped for when they passed the budget last summer.

The announcement was not surprising and could have been worse. The state's legislative analyst had predicted revenues would fall $3.7 billion below forecast.

Still, the automatic midyear reductions sparked outcry from advocates and invited lawsuits from school districts.

I guess those CA public employees and politicians, retired and currently employed, aren't willing to give up their lavish benefits for the sake of students, the poor and disabled.

Shame on them.

We just had a public hearing on jobs and business with Assemblyman Logue and Senator Gaines. Testimony after testimony was heard on the layers of regulatory bureaucracy driving business into the dirt or out of state. Why the heck can’t they cut regulations and the damned scientists and staff that administer and enforce them?

They should tax the ones who remain even more. Tax, tax, tax and then tax.

Then when the Dems have robbed the workers of everything, they will call on them to pay more (i.e. their fair share). Oh yes, isn’t class warfare fun?

The liberal legislature needs to cut state agencies and
repeal requirements for expensive wind and solar.
