Yes it is! I keep saying it's "in your face" for lack of a better phrase but you have the correct term.
I have realized this since Obama called for it during 2008, and when some of us went to a restaurant wearing McCain buttons because we had just come back from a meeting, all the young black waitstaff would say "Obama!" right in our faces every time they ran into one of us.
