New Haven to propose allowing non-citizen immigrants to vote in municipal elections (Illegals too)

NEW HAVEN — New Haven is taking its immigrant-friendly approach one step further and has proposed allowing non-citizen residents, including those who are undocumented, to vote in municipal elections.

The proposal is part of a package it will submit to state lawmakers for the session that starts in February.

Mayor John DeStefano Jr. Tuesday said the impetus behind the proposal is “to build a more engaged participatory community” and it follows the example of other cities that have already done this.

Related: DeStefano says federal program detaining illegal immigrants would undermine community trust

Legal immigrants and undocumented immigrants who currently can’t vote would still not be able to vote in state or national elections. The change in New Haven would have to be approved by state lawmakers.

Seems to me that there are ways of slapping New Haven hard if they did this. Maybe cutting off any and all federal funds the city gets.

So non-citizens can vote for freebies over the objections of citizens. Wow. Can’t see any downside to this. /s

Maybe we should all renounce our citizenship and start collecting all of the freebies too!

FWIW: Non citizen immigrants could vote in New York City elections through the 19th century. Stupidity then, insanity now.

Whereever this is, do mini elections ever have statewide entries?

What is the value of citizenship anymore? This is straight out of Lennon’s Imagine.

I did not know that. However, there is a major difference between those who came here in the 19th century and so many of the illegal aliens who are coming now. The non citizen immigrants wanted and planned to become Americans. They did not for the most part continue their allegiance to the country they came from.

Communists are so weird. Allowing foreign freeloaders to vote in our elections in not an American value. The boys in New Haven need to lighten up on the recreational drugs.

The Taxpayers living in New Haven had better get the hell out of there because there Property taxes are going to be going to the moon once these Illegal Parasites are allowed to vote for more goodies for themselves.

The rest of Connecticut’s citizens had better wake up as well because Destefano will be coming Hat in hand begging for more State Tax dollars to pay for more of his boondoggles.

Connecticut would be a great state to live in if it were not for all of the Parasites residing in the Largest cities.Hartford,Bridgeport,Waterbury and of coarse that Gateway to New England New Haven.

If it were Not for Yale University New Haven would not even be an afterthought of places to visit.

Take it from me I lived there and I still go to work there.New Haven Under Destefano and All of the other Democrat mayors have destroyed that city.

My advice is stay away from the dump.

Frankly< I think this nation could benefit enormously from every working man staying home for about 90 days. Having even 10% of them show up in Washington, D. C. would put the icing on the cake too.

What would they do, foreclose on 60% of the homes in the nation? No chance of that...

Hey, I live in Virginia but I wanna' vote there too!

So, do I get to vote or is this another one of those deals where preference is given to foreigners and other Americans are rejected?
