Burying and piping streams can destroy valuable aquatic habitat and threaten water quality.

Mmmu, sure.

As always, see the back story to the back story.

I doubt any red blooded Georgia redneck knowingly consented to having his fishing stream messed up. Were these already mudholes for catfish?

Extortion. The fine probably goes to the Fund to Re-Elect the Creep.

I wouldn’t doubt that for a second. What evil bastards.

"GDOT approved sites that included streams considered to be waters of the United States."

In other words, the Georgia Dept. of Transportation approved the dumping of earth and rock on these sites, but the EPA wasn't consulted. The EPA needs to be abolished and a 'navigable waterway' needs to be defined something big enough to float a barge.

This probably has to do with the four laning of highway 441 from Tallulah Falls up through Dillard. I have owned property up there in Rabun for years and we are getting ready to move up there soon. I’m going to check this out tomorrow with people I know. It probably did happen but every drainage ditch up there is called a running stream so who knows. Not worth millions in fines. The EPA is all about revenue collection.

The story says the buried five trout streams, they are required to nemove the piping and restore what they destroyed. Seems fair.

They have it to the point that tributaries are navigable waterways and mud holes are wetlands and both are heavily regulated.

I beg to differ with you. EPA in not ALL about revenue collection. Revenue collection is a means to the end of controlling us and destroying our freedoms. EPA is all about control of the population. Thank Nixon for letting this monster out of the cage.

“purchasing 16,920 mitigation credits”

Is that like purchasing absolution in the Church of Climate Fraud?

Yes the EPA is about power and control but the millions in fines for a $25,000 fix on something is just revenue collection.

As for the trout there’s not enough trout up in Rabun to shake a stick at. Every year the Fish and Game guys raise a bunch of trout and then they release them at the head of the tributaries. The trout enthusiasts line up near the release area and by the time the trout get a mile or two down the line they are all caught. If you really want to catch trout you used to go to Andy’s Trout Farm, pay your money and have a great time but we were by there recently and its closed down and up for sale. It would make a heck of a retreat for when the SHTF. A lot of folks up in Rabun just dig their own trout pond and stock it. We are thinking of doing that also.

The trout farms in Arkansas / Missouri are about gone as well. They used to be a common presence. Not a lot of them but common. Now you have to look really hard to find them.

A trout pond would be wonderful. All I can raise is Catfish for the most part. Just too warm.

Yes, EPA does collect millions but it is still just a byproduct of their real mission which is enforcement of liberty strangling laws.

The EPA needs to be shut down. I don’t have a problem with Newt’s idea of substituting an Environmental Solutions Agency to work with business to help figure out ways to do things in a more environment friendly way. We all want clear air and water. This carbon tax crapola has got to go.
