No one could have known that when a Tunisian fruit vendor set himself on fire in a public square, it would incite protests that would topple dictators and start a global wave of dissent. In 2011, protesters didnt just voice their complaints; they changed the world.

To include OWS protesters is absurd. They haven’t changed anything, nor will they.
In 2011, protesters didnt just voice their complaints; they changed the world.
The world changes every year protesters or no protesters
Which will lead to:
2012: Year of the Muslim Brotherhood
The OWSers are disgusting freeloaders and that's what this idiot magazine honors? As brilliant as giving Biggie O a Nobel prize for thinking!
Shhhhh, you'll damage their little self-esteems.
Time continues its long and steep slide into irrelevance. I must have missed them making Tea Partiers “People of the Year” for causing REAL change in the dynamics of American government in 2010.
...unless it's the racist, bigoted, xenophobic, homophobic Tea Party.
The MSM and Baba Wawa have CONvinced regular don’t pay attention sheeple that the occupiers are good people how sad.
TIME magazine needs to disappear along with the rest of the irrevelant media that thinks so highly of its “liberated” self.
2011: the Year of the Protester.
2012: The Year of Unintended Consequences.
Yet another cop out by Time Magazine. Almost as bad as the time they names “you” Man of the Year. I’m still waiting for some prize money or something for the first one. I protested (tea party) last year, but I won’t wait for Time to recognize me after that last disappointment.
Can’t wait for someone to photoshop the Time cover to feature “The Protester at the Police Car”.
Not that Time isn’t a piece of crap all on its own, mind you.
Looking back to the 2010 page it was Mark Zuckerberg with runners up Julian Assange, Hamid Karzai and The Chilean Miners. Didn’t see a mention of The Tea Party on the page.
Time Person of the Year: Idiot
They changed the way a lot of folks got to work just because of the smell.
It was the stupid OWSers trying to "help" the longshoremen. (too funny how that little thing backfired!)
Time goes against the union to honor these morons.
2011: Global Wave of Dissent
2009 Global Warming Experts
Even the libs hate what’s going on.
Just another day in Obamaland. :(
If only the Tea Party had raped and sexually abused people at their protests would they be respected like the OWS and arab springers.
Fair TIME person of the year: like Time — pathetic loser filled with sh**.
Is this the same rag that didn’t even mention the Tea Parties?
Time, you're not supposta make profit off me!
Pick any gray head from a Tea Party rally and I will show you the real person of the year, maybe of the decade
Not even if they set themselves on fire?
Time is still in business?
They should be nominated for liberal dinosaur waste of trees, of the year.
This is really a worthless rag...not fit enough to cloud FR.
The FR person of the year should be the millions of people who walk by the newsstand and ignore Time magazine.
I’ve got the YouTube on the BluRay, and did a search on “syrian army defector”, put it on continuous play, and it’s still going on while I’m in here. The defectors make videos y’know, showing their faces and their military IDs, stating their names, and denouncing the Assad regime. Unlike Libya, the Syrian people are on their own, with very little of anything coming from outside — certainly nothing from NATO et al.
It’s more clear than ever that that NATO chose Libya first to queer the deal on Syria when the time came. Neither Russia nor China will support anything substantial. It leaves the Arab League, plus freelance work by Turkey. Israel should condemn the Arab League for doing nothing (without threatening to intervene), really humiliate those sorry drag-ass no-account do-nothing effs.
Thanks John W.
Indeed. Against very long odds, Time magazine has become even more irrelevant this year than it was last.
When they pick protestors over this runner up you know Time is a sick joke...
William McRaven: The Admiral
Protesters NOT considered by Time:
1) Pro Life Protesters
2) PRO 2nd Amendment Protesters
3) Inner City Protesters of DC protesting the removal of the school vouchers program
4) Supporters of the Fair Tax
5) Those protesting against a mosque near the former twin towers
6) Anyone protesting outside the EPA
7) Christians protesting against gay marriage
8) ANYONE praying on the US Capitol grounds
9) Those protesting against the IRS
10) ANYONE protesting against Obama
All protesters are equal although some are more equal than others.
I wonder did TIME realize that the seeds of the current protest movement started with start of the Tea Party movement in March 2009?
They demand entitlement to their double standards! How do you go about doing business with that other than to destroy it?
Time magazine names Occupy Wall Street the No. 1 U.S. news story of 2011

Time magazine names Occupy Wall Street the No. 1 U.S. news story of 2011.
In the category of comedy, perhaps!
But seriously, I wonder who the "Person of the year will be"? Some stinkin' OWS hippy?

Wow! I might be the next Nostradamus! Maybe I should buy a lottery ticket
Or just put that picture onto their cover for "Protester of the Year" replacing whatever is there now. That's the first copy of TIME I would buy, then I'd frame it and put it in my office.
You forgot the protest against obamacare.
I won’t read Time’s propaganda, but for those who have, can you let me know if Tea Party protesters are mentioned?
Scanned through the Time article. Only saw one reference to Tea Party Protesters that said they stopped after the 2010 Republican takeover of the House. I guess in Time’s opinion they aren’t really as “valid” as OWS.
Shows how very important M/PoTY is. No one remembers just last year.
The actually mentioned the Tea Party this morning on the news as being instrumental in kicking the whole thing off.
