I am familiar with the legistlative disasters of FDR & LBJ, but what were the huge legislative accomplishments of Lincoln? (I understand the Civil War was a big thing for Lincoln, but that was CinC thing).
Certainly not a testament to the intelligence of the American electorate, was it?

This is a deep subject. Obviously, in the last election there was a lot of "identity politics". I call it tribalism. The parasites vote, en mass, for the person who will keep the gravy train rolling. You actually can't blame them, they are voting in what they perceive as their own best interest.
The people who really screwed up are the ones who voted against their own best interests. That would be anyone who works, pays taxes, or believes in America. Many in these categories will vote for Obama again. For example, Jews.
