It is a cult - what’s wrong with calling it such?

Because Mittens doesn't want his religion to be exposed as it really is. He's constant at saying it doesn't belong in the campaigns. Of course he'd want it that way....when anyone looks a bit closer at Mormonism they are generally stunned anyone could believe such nonsense, because that is what it is.

Besides Mormonism is simply a front for the leadership to keep the cash flow going into their coffers....just like any other revenue machine flying under the banner of a religion....it keeps their membership in bondage...and they pay up.

Him “Mormonism” is just one of many faces this politician has. I dont trust him and prefer him to NOT be the GOP guy in the general election.

When we die, God will have it sorted out.

The sorting out happens 'here and now' before death...'then' it will be too late......Gods judgement occurs.

Mormonism serves a counterfeit Christ...and yes we are called as Christians to oppose false teachings which Mormonism is...and leads people away from the true Christ of Christianity.

If you are a Christian and not a Catholic, you belong a sect of Christianity that has been started by a man
Bulls**t!!! If you wouldn't make statements like that, USS Alaska, people wouldn't know just how friggin' ignorant you really are. Catholic is a denomination started by "men"; men who oppressed the poor by selling indulgences and oppressed the masses and even kings who feared the Pope because if they didn't dance to his tune, they were excommunicated and consigned to hell fire. So, a loving God started that mess? I don't think so. Thank God for Martin Luther who liberated us all from the Great Whore of The Book of Revelation. Now, how do you like that; you brain-washed dummy?

The article said he made the remark before he was hired and given the boot after the remark came to light.

http://theiowarepublican.com/2011/22880/ A participant in a focus group organized by TheIowaRepublican.com and McClatchy newspapers lost his job because of comments he made during the event last week. Shortly after participating in the focus group, Craig Bergman was hired as the Iowa political director for Newt Gingrich’s presidential campaign. The controversial comment came in regards to Mitt Romney’s prospects, if he captured the GOP nomination. “There is a national pastor who is very much on the anti-Mitt Romney bandwagon,” Bergman said. “A lot of the evangelicals believe God would give us four more years of Obama just for the opportunity to expose the cult of Mormon…There’s a thousand pastors ready to do that.” The “cult of Mormon” comment is what landed Bergman in trouble. Newt Gingrich’s campaign spokesman R.C. Hammond released a statement Tuesday evening announcing Bergman was no longer with the campaign. “Craig Bergman agreed to step away from his role with Newt 2012 today. He made a comment to a focus group prior to becoming an employee that is inconsistent with Newt 2012′s pledge to run a positive and solutions orientated campaign.” As co-moderator of the focus group, TheIowaRepublican.com believes Bergman was not making a statement that reflected his own views of the Mormon religion, but was relaying what he heard from the “national pastor” referenced in his comment. --- There's no "blasting" there. It's a Liberal rag newspaper stirring up trouble where there is none.

My neighbor is a Mormon and is very devout, and according to him, is a good Christian. I know he is a good man and neighbor.

If you are a Christian and not a Catholic, you belong a sect of Christianity that has been started by a man, Martin Luther, just like Joseph Smith started Mormonism.

You disdain the Mormons yet you hold your beliefs {whatever they are} to be valid?

What a hypocrite!

So we are to ignore the glaring contradictions between the bible and the book of Mormon? We are suppose to believe their version of history when they say the American Indians are the descendants of Jews, that there really was a Nephite and Lamanite people even though there has never been any evidence of that, that the Mormon faith is the restored Church and only married, temple worthy members can enter into heaven?

I guess we are to accept Palestinians as being historically factual too?

Your friend may be a good man and good neighbor, but he is by no measure a Christian. You talk about Protestants and Catholics being different, but compared to Momonism, the beliefs of Protestants and Catholics are virtually identical. In fact, the one religion most similar to Mormonism (in history, practice, and beliefs) is...ISLAM.

Consider these facts that are true for BOTH Mormonism and Islam.

I could write for pages and pages on the similarities between Mormonism and Islam, but I hope you get the point: Mormonism has more in common with Islam than it does Christianity.

As a Christian, it's worth your time to study to the beliefs of other religions, and do a comparison study not only between them and Christianity, but study the differences and similarities they have with each other--if for no other reasons than to (1) protect yourself from false teachings, and (2) give a proper defense of Christiantiy when faced with the claims of false religions.

Not that it matters to anybody but I think you are both off the charts with your denominational team colors. Its not about Paul or Apollos - it is about Christ.

I have been to services at a Jesuit Catholic church in New Orleans, an Orthodox monastery just outside Moscow, and a Calvinist, fundamentalist Baptist church in San Angelo, Texas. The presence of Christ was manifest at each of those places, and each of those services was a conduit of God’s grace. Sometimes God has to work around denominational or individual quirks and fetishes to get the job done, but He is a mighty God and does things like that. Cite whatever mouldering theologian or crabbed cleric you wish to ‘prove’ it can’t be so, but I was there and I know it is true. Yes, I testify.

There are a lot of fields out there that are mixed tares and wheat. In the end, God will indeed sort it out - an echo from a really ugly incident by the way, but none the less true.

Yep. And that's the bottom line. Any idiot can toss around divisive slurs. Real Americans put aside their differences and work together for the preservation of what's left of this nation.

The Libtards own the "D" party now because they can put aside differences between Al Qaida Muslims and Atheistic Jews, fudgepackers and serial philanders, Black Panthers and La Raza racists to work together for the destruction of the nation.

But too many self-professed Chrisitans can't put aside much more minor theological differences to work together for its preservation. They are too busy casting rocks at those who don't meet with their purity tests.

What is it going to take to awaken us from this idiotic stupor?

Simon Peter was NOT the first Pope. And you didn't learn that in the Baptist Church. Baptists consider that to be heresy. If Simon Peter was the first Pope, why did he forbid Cornelius to bow down to him in Acts Chapter 10 and the Pope today allows people to not only bow to him but kiss his ring? The Catholic church is a man-made denomination just like all the others. But, Christ is the Head of the True Church; not the Pope or some Parish Priest who molests little boys that they call "Father" when Jesus forbade that in Matthew 23:9 "...for only one is your Father which is in heaven." I say again: It's a man-made denomination. Just like all the others. But, Christ is the head of the Church.

t is a cult - what’s wrong with calling it such?

What's wrong with it? Give me a break! Do you not understand the Constitution? What do think Freedom of Religion means? That you can trash, slander and persecute every religion you don't agree with?

You might want to consider the implications of your slander.

And yes, I am a well educated (Harvard Law plus a PhD), tax paying, happily married, father of 5, former Air Force fighter pilot, now entrepreneur, true blue, thinking and loving Mormon.

Why? Because I know through personal experience that it is true. Peter prophesied the restoration. Christ did restore his Church in the last days, and there are living prophets and apostles. And Christ is inviting all to come unto Him and to love God with all of your hearts, minds and souls. Why? Because he loves all. And The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and all of us you call Mormons similarly extend our love to all.

Moreover, the moral strength of our nation, the very fabric of our Constitution, requires that we respect and champion the right of all to worship and believe how they please. Our invitation to all to come unto Christ implies no disrespect. Throwing slanderous terms around about others' religious beliefs not only implies disrespect, it implies you are not a true, Constitution loving, American.

What a load of crap. Freedom of Religion doesn't make all religions equal in God's eyes. Freedom of Religion doesn't make Hinduism less of a cult. Amazing how slimy your argument is.

I didn’t say Romney shouldn’t run because he belongs to a cult.
You are free to belong to a cult too - Constitutionally protected in fact to be able to belong to a cult.

But your accusation of slander is incorrect as I’m sure your highly educated self knows :)
Cheers!

mormonISM is a cult.
You are free to believe what you want.
I find it interesting that you bring up the constitution when J Smith threw it under the bus, when he said every thing before him was an abomination, oh yea and when he declared himself a general, created an army and wanted to over throw the US government.
Freedom, really how about his destruction of printing presses.
mormonISM says that the lds jesus is a created being.
The Bible says He is eternal.
mormonISM says you must earn your salvation IE after all you can do
The Bible says that Jesus is sufficient and Salvation is given by Grace.
Believe what you want, however mormonISM is a cult.
