The statistics are that 28% of all accidents are caused by texting/cell phone usage. But you people here are more concerned with “your rights” than people’s safety?
What messages or phone calls are you taking that could POSSIBLY be so important that you’d put the lives of others in danger? And yes, there ARE emergencies, but if they occur you can pull over and call for help. If they occur on a regular basis, you have real problems.

BS. Cites and states where texting and phone use is banned see no statistical improvement in accident prevention. More nanny statism.

“But you people here are more concerned with your rights than peoples safety?”
Well, how ‘bout we just declare automobiles illegal? Traffic deaths solved!
Seriously, though. What we’re seeing is progressive dumbing down of the citizenship to the point where we’re all going to be non-thinking wards of the government, incapable of making (and abiding by) our own choices.
Just for the record, to earn a private pilots certificate, you have to be able to fly an airplane while planning a new flight to another destination, and stay in communication with ATC concurrently.
The real solution here is better driver training, NOT making multitasking illegal for those capable of it.
I call BS. As Dennis Prager says, when a study reaches an absurd conclusion that contradicts common sense, don't believe it.
Do you really think accidents are up 28% (or however the math works out) since the advent of cell phones? Of course you don't. Nobody with a brain does, including whoever concocted the bogus study. So why do you parrot something so absurd that somebody smart enough to construct the sentences you did couldn't possibly believe?
>The statistics are that 28% of all accidents are caused by texting/cell phone usage.<
So why are automobile accidents down overall?
I have absolutely no problem with making texting while driving illegal. However, when these government nannystaters allow built-in cell phone use, but not bluetooth headsets, my bull$hit meter goes off big time.
So, why not put your money where your mouth is. No talking to your kid in the backseat and absolutely no conversations with your adult passengers while you drive. While we’re at it, you better not mess with that radio, either. No eating, no drinking and especially no smoking behind that wheel. We don’t want to do anything that might put the lives of others at risk.
Come to think of it, simply DRIVING might put the lives of others at risk. Hey, I think I see a new goal for the NTSB!
“The statistics are that 28% of all accidents are caused by texting/cell phone usage”
I call Bullshtuff.
Accident rates have been dropping for years. Nearly everyone has a cell phone, yet accident rates haven’t gone up.
No need for this stupidity. Texting is already illegal (and really stupid to do while driving anyways) but hands free cell use is not a huge deal.
Yes. I am more concerned about my personal rights.
Teach the kids not to text.
Brought to you by the same people who studied man-made climate change?
BS!!!! There are no statistics to back up a ban on mobile phones.
In fact, let's look at a REAL statistic.....highway fatalities.....a number that is dropping despite millions of mobile phones introduced into our society.
THERE IS NO PROBLEM HERE!!!!
I am sick and tired of these fabricated issues.
