President Obama issued a directive today granting home health care workers the same protections of minimum wage and overtime that other workers get.
Noting that home health care workers were classified in the same category as babysitters and therefore exempt from most labor rules, the president noted that many of these employees required government assistance just to make ends meet.
"This means that many homecare workers are forced to rely

Ah yes, Obama is working tirelessly to control health care costs...
who made him king? imagine a republican president trying something like this.
Looks like another profession that will be driven “under the table” (and probably into the hands of illegals) as most people are unable or unwilling to pay union scale and benefits for someone to sit with granny for a couple hours a day.
Sounds like a way to further misclassify certain caregivers as healthcare workers, so that they then can be forced to pay union dues in certain states.
He’s UNIONIZING family members, who provide healthcare.
1. So he can REGULATE THEM.
2. So he can STEAL ANY PAYMENTS THEY RECEIVE, IN THE NAME OF “UNION DUES”.
SEIU payoff. Probably billions.
What the hell is a directive? And why should anyone follow it?
Oh yeah, he crowned himself king, didn’t he.
however, this will greatly increase home care expenses...
we'd better all get used to having our parents in our homes, and just hope our kids are gracious enough to take us in.....its back to the future time.....
One would think that in more rural parts of the country it would be a no brainer..ancestors [parents, grandparents] did it before us. When did it stop?
In Aurora, Illinois [a large hispanic pop] I remember there was a community garden where people raised their own produce. Grew peppers for salsa. Then people exchanged.
I guess is just EASIER for some to take that EBT card to the supermarket and buy off the shelf. It is easier to just "go out" and eat.
This is the most economically illiterate idiot ever to hold public office.
FFFFUUUUBBBBOOOO!!!!
I agree that home care workers should get paid decently. But consider the situations.
Suppose someone needs 24 hr care. Instead of working out a deal for 40 hrs a week, room and board in exchange for someone being there 24 hrs a day. They will now have to pay 24x7x7.25 = $1218/week.
Who can afford $5200/month? (4.3 weeks/month)
No he’s NOT!
He hates America and has been quite successful destroying our economy....ON PURPOSE!!!
Your ancestors did it because there wasn't an alternative and homemaking, including cooking, was their job.
Maybe we should live in caves or teepees return to an agrarian society.
Gardening and "home cooking" is the the domain of the (upper) middle class. It's a hobby for the idle rich, it's not cost effective for the poor.
Fruit trees in my area grow everywhere. Apple trees this year were laden with apples and they do not exist only in orchards but on the edge of roadways, peering out of woodlands where orchards once were. Apples were everywhere and no one would have minded if someone stopped to pick, so they lay there for the deer to enjoy.
Gardens are watered by nature by the rains. The soil has been fertilized with natural mulch. Pesticides are not used. Blueberries don't need pesticides. This is commonplace in New England.
No you wont be paid for your labor. But you will be less dependent. This agrarian society you scoff at is all around me and they sell at local General stores, and barter for what the others may produce. Poultry, meat is all local, dairy as well. Let's not leave out fresh sea food.
So good to have the real thing. And you think of it as people with “time on their hands”? These people will never have their hand out-they can provide for themselves. Their children learn from their parents example. I feel sorry for those who have never experienced this independence. To buy a store based loaf of bread in some chain store, should I wish to do so as pay close attention to carb intake..I buy from the same farm store where a person is selling their line of breads/rolls. It's all local and people know each other. The EBT holder and the government sees it the way you do.
Wow these folks would laugh at being called rich for they are far far from it!!! Idle is not used with these independent folks, they are never so. No one can afford to be idle. However, never doubt that they are uneducated. They have the skills and tools to be independent.
