Gallup: Gingrich Leads Romney by 20 Points Among Conservatives

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich of Georgia is leading former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney in the Republican presidential race by 20 points—41 percent to 21 percent--among self-professed conservatives, according to a new Gallup poll released Thursday.

By contrast, Romney is leading Gingrich by 10 points—27 percent to 17 percent—among self-professed liberals and moderates in the poll.

The poll, conducted Dec. 5-11, surveyed 1,665 Republicans and Republican-leaning independents who are registered voters. Among all poll respondents, Gingrich led Romney 33 percent to 23 percent, with Rep. Ron Paul of Texas at 9 percent, Rep. Michele Bachmann of Minnesota at 6 percent, and Texas Gov. Rick Perry at 6 percent.

Gingrich led among most sub-groups in the poll—except for self-professed liberals and moderates, those 18 to 34 years of age, and those living in the East.

TF, that sounds great.

But FYI.... Earlier today, I watched Megyn Kelly announce a shakeup in the latest polls showing Newt tanking to 2nd and 3rd place with Romney at the top.

While seeing his numbers come down concerns me, I think what bothered me most was how Kelly began the “breaking news”. The first words out of her mouth were, “THANK GOD”.... she was excited and giddy.

I have so had it with Fox News....

Put the smartest guy out there (Newt) and let him destroy Obama. Eventually all those independents you’re all worried about will get it. They’ll see through all the negative ads. The debates will carry a lot of weight and anyone who thinks Obama beats Newt in a debate, you’re not going to convince anyway. Let Newt loose on Obama and destroy this Socialist slime once and for all. To me, anyone else and you’re taking a chance of losing to Obama. One mistake by Perry and he’ll come across as an idiot and he’s done. Ron Paul does not have a realistic view on Iran. Mitt is the smooth politician, but I don’t think he’ll be strong enough against Obama. The amount of wives Newt has, the healthcare mandate in 1993, and all the mindless criticism of Newt has NOTHING to do with solving today’s problems. Put the best guy out there and he will win. Have a little faith in Newt and the American people.

Let’s get real. Iowa (28) and New Hampshire (12) have a small amount of delegates. Newt has huge leads in SC (25) and FLA (50). Once we get through Florida, Newt will have the lead regardless of what happens in Iowa and NH. Newt is also leading big in California (172), Georgia (76), Pennsylvania (72), Ohio (66) and Virginia (50). Newt’s leading the states he needs to lead. The other big state Texas (155) will probably go to Perry - NOT Mitt. So the Republican elite can try to tell you who to vote for and Ron Paul can run negative ads in Iowa all day long, but in the end, it’s not going to matter.

AFTER checking out the two URL links below, please answer the questions at the end of my post. The information at the URLs is quite brief.

Newt Gingrich in his own words describes himself as a Realpolitik Wilsonian as was LEFT wing progressive Woodrow Wilson.

Debbie Schlussel in this article on her website discusses Newt Gingrich's upcoming book on Global Warming which is due out in 2013.

Will you still be supporting a global warming alarmist in the upcoming federal election and do you still consider Newt Gingrich a conservative when he clearly states that he is not ?

I suspect so, but he is probably afraid he would lose his job if he said anything before the nomination.

I think Hannity, Levin and Rush are just like me and the rest of the 52% of GOP primary voters who would prefer Newt over Mitt head-to-head (see post #2 above: Newt 52%, Romney 39%):

- we want a conservative
- we want the primary voters to decide, not the big shots
- we did not have Newt as our top pick originally, but we do recall how happy we were when Newt led the GOp to take over the House and do welfare reform and impeach x42
- we are happy to support the conservative who actually rises to the top
- we think Newt is the most likely one to do that
- we are not sure it will be Newt

I am not a radio host so I feel free to give my endorsement, so to speak. I do understand that that these hosts would rather the voters decide without there being a kingmaker among the conservatives.

But I think if the 52% who don’t want Romney remain split, the hosts will weigh in and annoint one of the non-Romneys to try to prevent Romney from winning.

I would say Hannity and Rush are with Newt over Romney. Levin will be with Santorum or Bachmann until they’re done and then move over to Newt. They all don’t like the GOP elite trying to tell us how to vote. The only difference from your list was that I did have Newt as my top pick originally. All the baggage just doesn’t have anything with how to deal with today’s issues.

and Megan Kelly is a mod in the debate tonight - she'll be "neutral' like a snake.

After that remark - she should be disqualified...

“I think Hannity is in Newt’s corner. He just doesn’t want to say anything yet.”

I think what is happening to Hannity is that he is ticked that the RINO establishment is trying to push Mitt on us and their non-stop pummeling of Newt. In this case I agree with Sean. I am glad to see that the RINO establishments tactics are out there for all to see. I just hope enough voters see what is going on.

She should, but she won’t be. As far as I am concerned the entire Faux News group should be disqualified. In my eyes, they are no longer any better than CNN or any other MSM outlet.

I very much expect it to get bloody tonight.

Right back atcha -

Let’s take the cra*pola on Newt and global warming - he does believe, yes, that there has to be sensible actions regarding pollution - it wasn’t, after all, so long ago that some rivers were SO polluted with chemicals - they would catch on fire BUT -

And this is the part you ‘half-truthers’ always leave out - he is NOT for the GoreBull, carbon credits, Kyoto crap.

Watch this if you have an honest bone laying around somewhere -
This is what he testified to in 2009 - Doesn’t sound like a GoreBull warmer to me....(sorry if this is TRUE ‘inconvenient truth” to you - (not really sorry)

title: “Newt Rips Gore’s ‘Facts’ To Pieces”

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G7VUg7nG3lw&feature=related

What do we need ASAP - someone who can get the budget under control and people back to work? Someone who has to get up to speed or someone who has a proven record of doing that and can hit the ground running?

for the year 1998, Gingrich’s last year in office, he received a 100% rating from the ACU (Amer. Conservative Union) and his LIFETIME rating in 90+.

And there’s this - “Gingrich’s Unimpeachable Conservative Credentials” -
scroll down to the chart

http://fivethirtyeight.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/12/07/gingrichs-unimpeachable-conservative-credential/

and his record:

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2011/12/14/newts_past_and_future_leadership_112396.html

Check out his “Solutions” going forward and his “DAY ONE” Executive Orders he will have printed and ready to sign within 2 hours of the Inauguration that will put 45% of what obama has done to a screeching halt...

http://www.newt.org/solutions

He’s the only one that has the track record to hit the ground running - AND he has already named some people he wants on his team - NONE of them from the Establishment Republican Insider Cabal. Why do you think they are so panicked? Newt would be the FIRST NON-Cabal president since Reagan. They can hear the bubbles going out of their champagne. They are as afraid of Newt as the libs and the media are and will ALL, including people like you?, come against him like the Hounds of Baskerville.

He and his team will take the power out of the hands of the gov’t and give it back to the people. They all hate him as much as they do Sarah - for the same reasons. They are NOT INSIDERS. (Newt worked in Congress, yes, but he was never one of the Cabal - the evangelicals and Tea Partiers are behind Newt. They, unlike a lot of people - don’t swallow the “talking points” and know the difference between truth, fictions and ‘half truths”.

http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-503544_162-57337973-503544/newt-gingrich-strong-with-iowa-evangelicals-tea-partiers/

and THEN THERE IS MITTENS - (Your GUY?)

a self professed PROGRESSIVE

http://mrctv.org/videos/mitt-romney-2002-my-views-are-progressive

and part of his record

scroll down mid-way to the paragraph that starts with
“On immigration, Romney...”

http://www.humanevents.com/article.php?id=19672

He’s for-or against the issues depending on what day it is.

Well, even though I’ve taken you up on your invitation to answer the questions, I have no expectation that you will acknowledge, let alone accept the WHOLE truths, “Half-Truthers” being who they are.

But here’s the BOTTOM LINE: We are in dire straights as to our freedoms and our Free country. It will be a real race to save it. There is not one day to spare. Newt will pick a crew that will have the credentials needed in their respective positions and they will hit the ground running on DAY ONE.

WE can’t afford politics as usual, someone that will need time to get up to speed.

It’s too late to get up to speed after you’ve gone over the cliff.

IT’S REALITY TIME.

(note to honest Freepers: we need to keep a list of links on Newt to refute the Half-Truthers at every turn.)

I don’t know. I was wondering about that myself, but I doubt that they even care.

They have made it clear, by their recent actions, that they don’t give a hoot about a very large percentage of their viewers, probably because they know we don’t have much of an alternative.

Y'all who keep slamming Newt don't get it. We must defeat Obama, and we must do it with someone who has the balls to take him out without mercy.

I am not slamming Newt Gingrich. I posted facts in #11 above.

I truly believe the better option for your votes is;

QUOTE Refuse to play the Main Stream Media's game. NO VOTES have been cast yet. Stop allowing the MSM to select your candidates for you. Panicking and selecting a candidate because the MSM says so is allowing yourself to be manipulated by the MSM. UNQUOTE

In short, keep your powder dry and only support those who truly show that they have the very best interests of all of America at heart and that those interests are soundly based on a candidate's daily deeds. Hold them accountable. Absolutely nothing else will do. This isn't a game show.

please do post wherever you can - no need to give me credit - it’s just important to get the truth out there

There’s SO much great stuff on

http://www.newt.org/solutions - and even on YouTube

We need to concentrate on what he plans on doing - with a proven record that he can do it. It’s not all just rhetoric or feel good sound bites.

It’s funny (not) that no one notices that Newt does NOT spread lies, half-truths or otherwise besmirch the others.

The only true Gentleman on the dais -

Michelle’s whole campaign has been little but rabid attacks on everyone - in between “ I raised 22 kids” and “I’m a taw lawyer.”

I think, Michelle, we are looking for a President, not a foster mom or yet another lawyer.
