Islamists Ready To Pounce As U.S. Lowers Flag In Iraq

Mideast: Our premature departure from Iraq tells the world that the U.S., as in Vietnam, can't finish big jobs. But far worse, it opens the door to a nuclear-armed, pan-Islamist empire led by Iran.

Why, as Fox News correspondent Jennifer Griffin reported Thursday, did Iraqi leaders opt out of the official end-of-war ceremony in Baghdad?

Well over 4,000 U.S. servicemen and women gave their lives to free Iraq from Saddam Hussein, and some 32,000 were wounded over nearly a decade of war.

Shouldn't the elected representatives of the Iraqi people have been there to express their personal thanks?

After all, Defense Secretary Leon Panetta told U.S. personnel they could now leave the ancient, storied land between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers "secure in knowing that your sacrifice has helped the Iraqi people to cast tyranny aside, and to offer hope for prosperity and peace to this country's future generations."

Clearly, Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, President Jalal Talabani and many other officials within the nation's embryonic republic see the writing on the wall.

They understand what President Obama does not seem to: that Iraq in its current state is far from secure; and that America's sacrifices may have ended Saddam's tyranny, but that future generations of Iraqis — and very possibly the present generation — may find themselves under the thumb of foreign invaders.

Talabani, a Kurd, is on record saying that all of Iraq's political factions except those connected to the Mahdi army of Shiite warlord Muqtada al-Sadr wanted some U.S. troops to stay and continue to train Iraqi forces.

“Why, as Fox News correspondent Jennifer Griffin reported Thursday, did Iraqi leaders opt out of the official end-of-war ceremony in Baghdad?”

Because they knew that attending was a death sentence. Mookie will go wild first. Then Iran. The country is screwed.

Could happen? Try “will happen” now that the US is leaving. There were Iranians attacking US troops in Iraq for years. That was more than enough impetus for the US to finally deal with Iran.

I don't think it is a coincidence that the US is pulling all of their troops out of Iraq at the same time that Israel is weighing the possibility of taking action on Iran.

The U.S. military’s fast-approaching Dec. 31 exit from Iraq, which has no way to defend its airspace, puts Israel in a better place strategically to strike Iran’s nuclear facilities.

We can THANK our former RINO extraordinaire and COMPLETLEY CLUELESS, "Compassionate Conservative" George W Boosh for what surely has been an exercise in futility, when (albeit, though NOT an excuse, he was given bad advice) he allowed Iraq (as well as Af-Gan) to form new Gubmints with Islam (Sharia) as its "Controlling Authority."

This GUARANTEED that Iraq would never be a true ally and NONE of its peoples would ever enjoy what he pined for ("democracy") any liberties, freedoms or rights!

Of ALL of his screwups (and there were MANY) this was his worse.

I predict (in fact some of my Guard friends who served in one theathre or both, are already expressing this sad commentary) much as we Nam Vets did and that is: What did we accomplish and was the sacrifice and expenditure of so much blood and treasure worth it?

I suggest they will say the same as we did: A resounding NO; not because we ever lost ONE SINGLE major military engagement in Nam, but the politicians (both R's and D's) has NO intent on even trying to prevail (i.e. win) which we could have easily accomplished if we had wanted to.

Iraq (and Af-Gan, after we "Bug Out" of it) will end up being 2 more "Islamic Republics" and don't be surprised if some day they end up as our sworn enemy.

Less anyone think we could not have FORCED both countries to forsake Islam, do a little due dilligence as to what we did after defeating Japan and INSISTING they form a new gov't absent ANY connection to Shinto and we should have done the same when we had the opportunity to insist both countries form "Secular" governments.

Take up the White Man’s burden—
The savage wars of peace—
Fill full the mouth of Famine
And bid the sickness cease;
And when your goal is nearest
The end for others sought,
Watch sloth and heathen Folly
Bring all your hopes to nought.

Take up the White Man’s burden—
No tawdry rule of kings,
But toil of serf and sweeper—
The tale of common things.
The ports ye shall not enter,
The roads ye shall not tread,
Go mark them with your living,
And mark them with your dead.

Take up the White Man’s burden—
And reap his old reward:
The blame of those ye better,
The hate of those ye guard—
The cry of hosts ye humour
(Ah, slowly!) toward the light:—
“Why brought he us from bondage,
Our loved Egyptian night?”

Why would anyone ever trust America again? Sad.

Let’s see,

9 years trying the help them get their act together.

9 days for the whole thing to come unglued once we leave.

9 months for another 100,000 Iraqis to die.

Priceless

Why would anyone ever trust America again?

That's what they asked when Saigon fell and it fell for much the same reasons.

The same traitorous Liberals pulled the rug out from under our efforts and undermined all our hard won gains and the Communists poured in and took over the place.

The same thing will happen in Iraq.

Color it "gone".

We were there for 9 years. It was way past time to say Buh bye. Iraq is going to do what Iraq is going to do. It does not matter if we stayed 10 days or 10 years. They are a bunch of tribal muslims. Iran will grab their oil fields and then they will be a bunch of poor tribal muslims.

Not as bittersweet as pulling out of Iran is gonna be.

But Hey!
Look on the bright side.

After we withdraw from Iran in ten years we will need to conquer Iraq again!

We could have put the Iraq war in the same category as our wars with Germany, Japan, and South Korea but I think it now more properly belongs in the category with Vietnam, Somalia and Haiti. Trust us, we’re here to help. See ya later suckers!
