Most likely they fell from a plane. Not that an airline would admit to it because of law suits and instead quietly replace the “lost in transit” crates.

Coventry residents have offered several competing explanations for the event, including a passing plane, roving teenage pranksters--and, yes, witches.

Well, there ya go. Witches. ;-)

Whadjamean?

That picture is of the orchard where the apples began to magically rise from the surface, and accelerate skyward.

Luckily there weren’t any cows nearby. (Alien apple abduction?)

The apples were not of a quality that anyone would transport by plane (or anything)

I suspect

Tomatoes were once known as Love Apples, or more sonorously by the French as Pommes d'Amour.

So, that whole toh-MAY-toh, toh-MAH-toh conundrum aside, it was Attack Of The Killer Tomatoes. That, or those cranky sentient apple trees of Oz have quite the throwing arm.

This happened in Florida.

Police aviation is notoriously a little crazy. Aggressive guys, given high powered, high flying, multi-ton, hunks of metal to play with daily, and functionally exempt from all rules and regs over what they can do.

OJ Simpson was complaining that at 3:30 to 4:00 AM he was being awakened by hundreds of golf balls pummeling his roof all at once.

Although nobody ever got caught, there were indications that a police chopper was in the vicinty when the balls would drop. Most thought somebody was bringing a bucket or two of golf balls to work each night, and having some fun. Funny thing - cops said it was just unsolvable.

Can’t imagine what a hundred golf balls, dropped from 500 feet would sound like.

In this case, it could be some young goofs with a license, just being dumb.
