Tebow to suspended students: Obey rules
Fox Sports ^ | 12/17/11

Posted on 12/17/2011 2:38:52 PM PST by Ge0ffrey

"You have to respect the position of authority and people that God's put as authority over you," Tebow said. "So that's part of it and just finding the right place and the right time to do things is part of it, too. But I think it does show courage from the kids, standing out and doing that, and some boldness."

Tebow is right.

If these kids or their parents have a problem obeying "their government masters," then they should get out of the public school system.

You know -- shaking the dust off their sandals, and all that.

You probably never took that oath. It is the beginning of the Boy Scout Oath.

You're right. I didn't. I suppose that makes me less of man, too, right?

They aren't in the Boy Scouts either.

You guys are too easy.

I can only imagine what’s it’s like in your car as you pass a school building and the kids are outside playing.

“You see my wonderfully gifted children that are so perfect. Those aren’t children playing on that jungle gym, those are deeeeeemons. Deeeemons I tell you. Straight from hell!”

Lol i’m so glad you don’t send your kids to school. I can only shudder to think what it would be like to deal with you.

I agree. The only issue I had with the incident was the hallway.

They could have sent the same message from another area and maybe had a bigger impact.

Of course, that being said, it wouldn’t have drwan the attention of the media, lol.

“Tell the kids that they should always obey their government masters.”

(Romans 13:1-2).
1Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God. 2Therefore whoever resists the authorities resists what God has appointed, and those who resist will incur judgment.

1 Peter 2:13-14
13Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord’s sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme;

14Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well.

Other references - Ephesians 6:5-8; Colossians 3:22-25; 1 Timothy 6:1-2; 1 Peter 2:18-20; Titus 2:9-11.

My kids are gifted. They scored 98%, 97%, and 96% on the Wechsler IQ test in math. Two earned B.S. degrees in math by the age of 18.

Guess what?....The top 10% in nearly any socialist government school could be doing similarly well.

As the ad says. “ A mind is a terrible think to waste!” Don't send your precious child to a government indoctrination camp.

I am a public school teacher. In my district I am one of three conservative teachers. Urban, suburban, or rural, all the schools are the same. All the government textbooks tell students that the Constitution is a living document and all the American literature textbooks tell the students that the founders were deists. Students are encouraged to take paperwork home so that they can get free breakfasts and lunches because it is their right. Students are tested frequently for learning disabilities because the schools get more money for those kids. The only delusional one on this thread is one who thinks that the school their kid attends is not like that.

Leaders who fail to adhere to biblical principals are subject to Gods wrath. Citizens (also called subjects and slaves in the Bible) who suffer injustice because they follow Gods direction are blessed.

According to the picture I saw the kids were blocking the hallway. They were doing it to make a scene not to show their love of the Lord. Its more about showing a lack of respect and keeping discipline than it is about praying.

Our failing govt schools are what WE have allowed them to become.

That’s one of the better stories I’ve ever heard. Hope you don’t mind if I post links to it on other forums.

John Gato is a former teacher of the year in NY City, and an acknowledged expert on public education. He claims that public schools are now to the point where many if not most children would be better off being raised in the jungle by chimpanzees like Tarzan.

re: “While Christ told us to render unto Caesar that which is Caesars, and unto God that which is His,
And He said to them, “Render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.” Luk 20:25

Paul’s was instructed by the Holy Spirit to add the following when he wrote the believers in Rome who questioned whether or not they were subject to Roman law,
Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will bring judgment on themselves. Romans 13:1-2”

This issue of God and the State is always controversial because many people do not “get” what Paul is talking about.

Some people think Paul is saying that you must obey the government no matter what - even if it means disobeying God’s law.

That’s not what Paul is advocating. It is a similar issue with husbands and wives. Some believe that wives are supposed to obey their husbands even if it means disobeying God’s commands/laws.

These ideas are perversions of what Paul is saying. Paul is teaching Christians that government, as an entity, as an institution, is given by God to bring law and order to society. Government exists to stop evildoers - to punish those who break the law. In this sense, government is a gift given by God to benefit all those who love good and want to live peaceful, quiet, prosperous lives.

When government fails to meet the purposes God ordained for it, then it is outside of God’s will and disobeying His law - even if they don’t acknowledge God per se.

Same thing with wives and husbands. Yes, in general, wives are to be voluntarily submissive and respectful of their husbands - but not to the point of violating God’s moral laws. Remember the story of Ananias and Sapphira in Acts 5?

Anyway, my point is that you have to look at the total context of what Paul is talking about - Christians are to be good, law-abiding citizens as a testimony to those around them. They are to respect those in authority because the role of that authority is to provide the rule of law, protect law-abiding citizens, to provide order for society as a whole - to punish those who do evil.

When you have a government that advocates turning Jews over to the state for extermination - then Christians are NOT to obey that law because it violates God’s moral law. If our government were to order it’s citizens that they CANNOT pray to or worship God - then no, we don’t obey that law.

In the story of Jericho where Rahab the prostitute hid the Israelite spies from her government - even lied to government officals - she did this because she believed in the God of Israel and knew that her city and people were about to be judged by God for their sins - therefore she helped the spies and she was blessed by God because of her actions (she’s even mentioned in the list of the Faithful in Hebrews 11:31).

Also, as long as our form of government allows for peaceful change through free elections, then we should abide by the laws of the land and try to change the bad laws through legal, peaceful means. There may come a time when that is no longer possible. I think the Founders felt they were at that point and they had to decide whether to submit or to resist what they believed to be unjust, un-Godly laws on the part of the British government.

So, be careful when quoting Scripture that you have it in it’s full context. Paul did not teach that Christians were to blindly follow all governmental laws to the point of disobeying God’s laws.

Yes, but the first part sounded too pacifist to me. I was just taking it to the logical end.

Wow!!! Sometimes God sends Christian teachers into public schools as salt and light. Their example is sometimes the only Christian example the students may see.
As the mom of a 2nd grade teacher and a high school teacher, I know that my kids take stands all the time and thankfully their superiors have accepted them , so far.
Yes , they took the jobs willingly because they have families to support. They are both conservative Republicans and this mom is very proud of them!
Please try and be less judgemental, it’s not a very attractive quality!

Their example is sometimes the only Christian example the students may see.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

This is the **general** problem I see with Christians and conservatives teaching in the government schools:

1) It is not Christian or conservative to force one’s salt and light on other people's children or to force taxpayers to pay for it.

Yet,... that is what compulsory government education is. Behind every government school teacher and principal stand armed police to force children to participate in government schooling and to force taxpayers to pay for it. How can this be a Christian or conservative value? What lesson is being taught to the children about the few crumbs of Christianity and conservatism they might find there?

2) At best, the Christianity or conservatism that the teacher might be able to convey to the student is lukewarm and generic. What does Christ do with the lukewarm? He spits them out of His mouth.

3) Just to keep their job the Christian and conservative teacher must go along with a **lot** in the school that is not in any manner either Christian or conservative. Does the child risk learning that Christians and conservatives are hypocrites who will sell their values for a paycheck and pension?

4) When Christian church pews are filled with government school workers, vendors to the socialist schools, and their employees and families, ministers are less likely to open church run schools. How many ministers are willing to bite the hand that puts money in the collection plate?

5) When sweet Mrs. Honey Bun ( who loves her cat) teaches in the government school, inexperienced parents may be fooled into thinking their child's godless and socialist, single payer, government schools can't be **that** bad. Hey! Mrs. Honey Bun ( who loves her cat) teaches there.

6) Government school materials are scrubbed clean of any God-centered values. It is a false worldview yet Christian teachers use these textbooks every day. As the children grow older, they do come to know ( on some level) that what is being taught in their godless government school does not conform to Christian and conservative values. Is there a risk that children might conclude that Christians and conservatives are hypocrites that sell their values for a paycheck and pension?

8) Just to keep their job, the Christian can not thoroughly integrate their beliefs into their classroom or be bold and open in their beliefs. If they try to “sneak In” Christian and conservative values what are they teaching the children? Are they teaching the children that Christians and conservatives are sneaky?

8) If children have concluded that Christians and conservatives are weak, timid, lukewarm, and sneaky. As adults are they likely to join a church filled with weak, timid, and lukewarm hypocrites? Will the job of **real** missionaries working with grown adults have been made harder or easier because of the child's experience with government teachers who seemed to be weak, timid, and sneaky hypocrites?

Finally...As for me, personally, I am done with all government teachers. They are on my “No-friend” list.

The situation with our government schools is so serious that I fear for the future of this nation. Really, I do! What we need now is a complete shut down of the nation's socialist and godless schools. We need an immediate rescue plan. Remember the British boats rescuing the soldiers from the shores of France in WWII? Yes, it is **that** serious! We must shut down the nation's godless socialist schools. We must rescue the children.

Compulsory, single-payer, socialist schooling was a stillborn idea from the very beginning.

“We” is the citizens and taxpayers who have looked the other way while the socialists had free reign.
