ObamaCare Flatlines...Taxes Home Sales (4% Federal Tax on Houses)
GOP.gov ^ | 4/8/10

Posted on 12/20/2011 1:24:23 PM PST by Recovering_Democrat

“I can make a firm pledge. Under my plan, no family making less than $250,000 a year will see any form of tax increase. Not your income tax, not your payroll tax, not your capital gains taxes, not any of your taxes,” President Obama, September 12, 2008

Beginning January 1, 2013, ObamaCare imposes a 3.8% Medicare tax on unearned income of “high-income” taxpayers which could apply to proceeds from the sale of single family homes, townhouses, co-ops, condominiums, and even rental income, depending on your individual circumstances and any capital gains tax exclusions. Importantly, the “high income” thresholds are not indexed for inflation so will reach increasing numbers of middle-class taxpayers over time.

I love it when people assume facts not in evidence.

If you are wondering who I will support, I haven’t made up my mind yet, but I am leaning toward Newt Gingrich.

You may call him a whacko, but I believe him to be the most capable of those now running.

I do not understand your angst toward me just because we differ in opinion. If you like the way the Republicans are attacking Obamacare I am happy for you.

IMO Obamacare should be attacked daily and all funding for the growth of it stopped. I believe the House does have some authority over funding.

You have called me extremely ignorant and I may be, now you accuse me of voting for a whacko without any idea previous to this post of who I do consider best for the Presidency.

Well Bert if you are happy with the present Republicans in Congress I am happy for you. I want more.I want them fighting Obama the Democrats and their policies 24/7 every day. I WANT TO HEAR from them.I am tired of their acting as whipping boys for Democrats. When a Democrat such as Harry Reid blames Republicans for the mess we are in I expect a strong answer to his charge. When Pelosi makes stupid remarks, I want Boehaner ther to answer her.

I never lie Bert. Many times I may be wrong, but I never lie, but you can go on with your offensive Posts , it’s your right because you are so much brighter than I.

To be honest, I was surprised Pres. Bush didn’t select Forbes to be his Secretary of Commerce. Perhaps the offer was made and declined, but I couldn’t think of a more competent person for that position.

I have the utmost respect for Lt. Col. West. I have donated to his campaign and will continue to do so. He is a man who isn’t afraid to be the only person in the room who is willing to speak the truth.

On a second term he won’t need to restrain himself. He can do vast damage with executive orders.

Not to mention closing most power plants, banning fracking and drilling within the US ... effectively ending the US as a nation ... forget housing regs. we will all die of exposure if he gets his way.

Isn’t there also an average $17/mo cost to all mortgages....to fund the PAYROLL tax cut....??? That hits the middle class.

Depends on how you view Forbes as a supervisor of weather forecasters.

Fact is, the vast bulk of the Commerce Department's responsibility is NOAA -- the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. It consumes over 60% of Commerce's budget, if I recall correctly.

Second on the list of budget items is the Census Bureau.

Otherwise, the Department of Commerce has very little to do with regulating commerce.

Somehow, I don't think Commerce would be the spot for Forbes...

GOD How long has this bastard been in office? 3 years (seems like 300).

I can't even enjoy Christmas knowing this clown is destroying the Republic.

The House dominated by Republican passed a bill to do away with Obamacare. The Senate dominated by Liberal Democrats stopped the effort in its tracks.

Budgets have been passed by the House, but stopped by the Senate.

Replace the Democrats in the Senate and things will change. As long as you keep this kind of nonsense up, nothing will ever be done.

People need to stop talking about what Congress has done and stipulate which branch of Congress has kept a budget from being passed, and which branch keeps ignoring solutions and tries to impose taxes and an expansion of government.

they keep passing budgets and spending bills in the House, but the Democrats in the Senate (who are the cheering section for Obama), keep blocking them.

What else can you ask of the Republican controlled House but to pass bills. It takes a Republican controlled Senate and House with a two thirds majority to overturn a veto by Obama.

Yes all spending bills have to originate in the House. Its the Senate that keeps trying to change this by passing Obama and Reid's do nothing legislation.

A budget was passed. A bill to extend the payroll tax (social security and medicare taxes)for a year. The Senate then passed their own version and walked out, blaming the Republican. The MSM carries the President and Reid's water and spins to blame anyone but the liberal Democrats.

A friend of mine, a Canadian, owns 3 condos on the beach in Maui that are worth around 5M total. He’s thinking of selling two of them. Will foreigners be subject to this tax as well? (condos are all rentals) and all paid for. One was recently inherited.

Thanks for the info. I was under the impression that at least under the current administration, a vast array of fiscal responsibilities were being placed under the authority of the Sec. of Commerce.

I would have loved to see Forbes in a cabinet position more suited to his expertise.

This might explain increased home sales by people aware of and trying to get in under the date the taxes are imposed.

The Repub House under Boehner has had ample times to have de-funded ObamaCare from a budget standpoint and they have absolutely failed & refused to do this. During the debates last spring over increasing the debt ceiling limit, rather than defunding 0bamaCare as well as making real, substantial spending cuts of hundreds of billions to the 2012 budget (not some bogus 10 yr projection or reducing the size of increases over the next 10 years), instead Boehner & McConnell gave 0dumb0 an increase of +$2 Trillion to the debt ceiling AND the formation of the un-constitutional super committee. 0dumb0 is under no budget constraints whatsoever, compliments of Boehner & the House Repubs. In addition, 0dumboCare is alive and well and proceeding on pace to become so interwoven within the fabric of the federal gubmint and the healthcare system, that it will de facto never be repealed or defunded after 2012.
