Obama Administration Endangered Lives to Justify Gun Control
Townhall ^ | 12/20/2011 | Chris W. Cox

Posted on 12/20/2011 1:51:29 PM PST by neverdem

In all of my years fighting on behalf of the National Rifle Association to defend the Second Amendment, I never thought I would see a White House so vehemently opposed to gun ownership that it would be willing to arm violent criminals and endanger American lives in pursuit of a gun control agenda. Readers will recall that a little over two months ago, in this same space, I wrote:

"I would like to believe that President Barack Obama and Attorney General Eric Holder – no matter how much they oppose our Second Amendment rights – would never break the law and endanger human lives in their mission to score political points against gun owners...

"However, to believe all of this, I would have to ignore a lot of facts."

And now, according to new documents obtained by CBS News, we are faced with the fact that the Obama administration helped transfer illegal guns to drug cartels in Mexico to build a case for gun control – specifically, gun registration – here in America.

"If these reports are true, even by Washington standards this reaches a new level of arrogance and corruption," remarked Senator John Cornyn (R-TX). Unfortunately, Sen. Cornyn is not exaggerating.

On July 14, 2010, Mark Chait, who served as Assistant Director for Field Operations for the Bureau of Alcohol, Firearms, Tobacco and Explosives (BATFE) sent an email to Bill Newell, BATFE's special agent in charge of operation "Fast and Furious." Chait's email said:

"Bill, can you see if these guns were all purchased from the same (licensed gun dealer) and at one time? We are looking at anecdotal cases to support a demand letter on long-gun sales. Thanks."

Just six months later, after a press conference to announce arrests made in "Fast and Furious," Chait emailed Newell again, saying:

"Bill--well done yesterday... (I)n light of our request for Demand letter 3, this case could be a strong supporting factor if we can determine how many multiple sales of long guns occurred during the course of this case."

"Demand letter 3" is a letter sent to U.S. firearms dealers in the four southwest border states, demanding that they register sales of more than one semi-automatic rifle to the same person within five business days.

Under its "Fast and Furious" operation, Obama's BATFE had been forcing licensed firearms dealers to sell semi-automatic rifles to shady straw purchasers, who would then supply them to drug cartels in Mexico.

Many of these dealers were extremely apprehensive because BATFE was, in fact, forcing them break the law. In fact, one licensed dealer emailed BATFE numerous times to express his concern, not only could these sales jeopardize his livelihood, but also that the guns he was being forced to sell could end up in the hands of criminals south of the border, where they might be used to harm or kill American Border Patrol agents.

BATFE reassured him that everything was fine and that he should just keep following their orders. As we now know, the dealer's concerns were more than justified.

In April of this year, the Obama administration unilaterally imposed the "Demand letter 3" registration requirement. The National Rifle Association is currently funding lawsuits to end this unconstitutional edict.

"Very clearly, they've [the Obama administration] made a crisis and they're using this crisis to somehow take away or limit people's Second Amendment rights," said Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA), who is leading the House investigation into "Fast and Furious."

"There's plenty of evidence showing that this administration planned to use the tragedies of 'Fast and Furious' as rationale to further their goals of a long gun reporting requirement," stated Senator Charles Grassley (R-IA), who is leading the investigation on the Senate side.

Even Obama's Attorney General, Eric Holder, recently admitted to Congress that "Fast and Furious" guns would continue to show up at crime scenes in the U.S. and Mexico "for years to come" – just as two of them were found at the murder scene of slain Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry.

Ever since the "Fast and Furious" scandal first broke, Eric Holder and his colleagues in the Obama administration have refused to fully cooperate with congressional investigators. Now we know why. Because the truth is uglier than we ever could have imagined. Our own federal government willingly endangered American lives to build a case for weakening our Second Amendment freedoms.

King Obama wants all guns to be removed from everyone except law enforcement and military. It is his attempt to reduce the population to slaves and as a devout communists wants to become America's first dictator. He is building his army of criminals and thugs. Do any doubt that?

I have to say, it seems the mainstream media is taking this awfully lightly considering it resulted in actual deaths.

I work at a place with the majority of people working the defense area. Mostly all have Masters Degrees and many have PhDs. Today I had lunch with one and asked him about F&F. Never heard of it. He was shocked as I told him the story.

These people are what I’d say mostly conservative or conservative leaning but tend to apply themselves more at work than delving outside to understand why “things just don’t seem right anymore”....they are fully able to comprehend the facts presented to them and most would come to the same conclusions we here do, but we have lost the information battle - even with a Congress holding hearings on the matter. The MSM is that strong and unfortunately most of the people don’t get their news here or any place like it - even Fox isn’t pushing it.

We won’t win this battle until each and every one of us and more start ridiculing and accusing the media for their lies. That even goes for our local news reports on the radio in the morning. We have to starts hounding these people and publicly humiliating them - marginalizing them.

It is either that or they are the first ones to go when the revolution comes.

In the F&F story the ATF is the low hanging fruit. They weren't arresting anyone for gun smuggling they were doing the smuggling via third party dupes. In fact many of the ATF agents were used without their knowledge or consent to carry it out by higherups in ATF the FBI and the DOJ.

From the article:

Our own federal government willingly endangered American lives to build a case for weakening our Second Amendment freedoms.

"[W]eakening our Second Amendment freedoms" neither states the case accurately nor strongly enough. What the pack of thugs in the gubmint have done is nothing short of subversion of the Constitution.

This is way beyond criminal. This is an act of war against Mexico, which so far as I know, is still a sovereign nation, even though it is undergoing internal strife.

When one nation makes a policy of supporting rebels or even terrorists in another country, this is regarded as very bad relations. As a parallel situation, say, Iran or another nation known to support terrorists against their enemies, like supplying arms and rockets to Hamas, to be used against Israel, that is provocative action that could only be called war-like.

In this era of undeclared and irregular wars, the intent of making weapons available to known terrorists is in itself an act of terror, and in a larger sense, yet another undeclared but active war.

There is an awful lot of “walking” that is going to have be done here. Like maybe a “perp walk” for a number of as yet unindicted co-conspirators.

That would darned near clear out the Department of Justice.

It could also be called state-sponsored terrorism.
That is what our State Dept. calls it when Iran, NK and other nations do it.

I once heard about a similar scam involving William Randolph Hearst trying to arm Pauncho Villa to incite more border violence to get federal protection for his (Hearst’s) timber interests in Mexico. I heard about it from one of Pershing’s cavalry officers in the early 1970’s.

Dems Blame Bush For Operation Fast and Furious With Lies

That's from the Post Chronicle (Denville, N.J.). Foxnews and other Murdoch outfits have covered F & F plenty. So did the LA Times and CBS, at least online. It's been om PBS' Newshour and NPR. It's just not getting on much broadcast coverage. I've posted F & F online stories from all over the country. If folks don't know about it they're just not that well informed on current events.

Just wait till Holder gets impeached.

Well, Reno/Clinton incinerated a hundred people almost 20 years ago. Very little pushback then and they actually got away with prosecuting some survivors. To today's Drivebys, the Waco massacre never happened.

Bill Clinton is Patrick Henry compared to our current Black Panther President. So what if one (Yeah, right) American LEO and over 300 Mexicans were killed?

No doubt at all, but his “army” is a joke. Holder sent his fat slob SEIU “peoples” to disrupt our tea party meeting. By the time we were done with them, they had locked themselves in a building and were crying for the cops to rescue them.

Finally: Fast and Furious Comes up as GOP Debate Topic

Fox News host Megyn Kelly asked the question about Fast and Furious without mentioning Brian Terry, didn't give background on the operation and framed it in a way that benefited Eric Holder. She asked Rick Santorum and Rick Perry if republicans were politicizing the scandal by calling for his resignation. Rick Perry has joined with 57 House Republicans in calls for Holder to resign immediately.

It looks like YouTube has mixed in the various Tea Party events all onto one page. You’ll need to sift through these videos to find the incident with SEIU in Greenville, SC. There was a YouTube page which featured only the Greenville event, but I can’t find it. Sorry.
