Given a lot of the rhetoric coming out of Washington and mainstream media outlets these days, one could be forgiven for believing that the United States has entered a new age of unprecedented austerity. This is hardly the case. Indeed, despite the best efforts of an insurgent Republican majority in the House of Representatives elected in 2010 as a rebuke to Democratic fiscal recklessness federal spending continues to rise.

Both established parties are big government, tax and spend proponents. To retain power, their positions are not going to change as too many Americans are not willing to suffer the pain of true austerity. IMHO, the only way America will be restored to a constitutional republic with a sound economy will be through near total collapse of the country. Even that will depend upon the stance of the military.
Take a look at Europe. It won’t happen. Private wealth will be destroyed and government power will increase.
Your version is more like to be reality than mine.
