FedEx vows to track down delivery man who tossed computer monitor over fence

FedEx has vowed to track down the deliveryman who was caught on video carelessly tossing a computer monitor over a fence during a delivery.

Company spokeswoman Shea Leordeanu would not say what would become of the employee once they find him, but added: 'This won't be his best day.' The hilariously sad clip of a FedEx delivery man chucking the computer monitor has attracted nearly 200,000 viewers on YouTube in a single day, many of whom expressed fears that their holiday packages would be treated with the same regard.

It depends where you live. Out here in nowheresville, our postal carriers are friends and neighbors, and we get great service. All the delivery drivers are very nice, USPS, FedEx, UPS. We get more broken stuff through UPS, though.

I live in a rural area and my postman cursed me one day when I asked him a question.

My UPS and FedEx drivers are phenomenal!

In fact, I get irritated when I buy something online and find out they are shipping it via USPS.

As I recall, mail delivery was considered voluntary back in the day. If you didn’t install a box, the carriers would just leave your mail at the local branch.

By that rationale, I think I’m going to take down my mailbox and see what happens.

I’ve done the track, wait, shock thing too. I was waiting for a new server to be delivered. I was in the office, near the door, and I could see outside. I tracked the package only to see “Package left on doorstep.”

“Odd,” I thought. So I went outside to check... nothing. Called FedEx, they said the same thing, “We’ll have the driver come around again.” Driver never showed.

I called the next day, and the lady tells me that he came by but no one was home. I told her, “Lady, this is a business, not a home.” She proceeded to ream me out and hung up.

I avoid FedEx like the plague, if I can.

“We get more broken stuff through UPS, though.”

If you’ve ever seen how UPS loads a truck, you’ll NEVER ship anything of value with them again.

DHL used rolling containers for all of it’s freight. They rarely damaged anything. Those days are gone.

That was true... back when Reagan was president.

Today? The Home Depot is the largest employer of military personnel in the United States.

Tracking him should be easy. Just track the packing label and reference the truck/driver and delivery confirmation.

Most confirmations are recorded in real time.

The whole thing should take, at most, 5 minutes.

couple of years ago had to ship a laptop to another office

It arrived with a giant hole in box. Laptop was all bent

Someone had run forklift into box. Fedex refused to pay up
on the insurance claiming since not had been shipped in
original box and packing material was not responsible

Ironic thing was the laptop still worked.....

Their tracking system is a joke. It shows things as delivered that were not, things as “in transit” when they’ve been delivered, and more than a few times there’s no tracking number whatsoever.

Er, more than a few times there’s no information for a tracking number whatsoever.

He looks Latino to me, which means that Maybe he couldn’t read the box?

They know who he is. He is quite clearly seen on the film.

‘Don’t receive much from Fed-ex, but the UPS guy—or at least the regular one on our route—is a PR dream for their company. He always delivers to the door, has something positive to say and ALWAYS thanks us for the business.

So happy to read your comment. I had the same attitude towards my customers throughout my career. I'd go to great lengths to insure their satisfaction with my service. I'm guessing your UPS driver is an older guy?

The USPS is the WORST alternative. They are lazy asses who mostly got their jobs through affirmative action.

Our postal service in Columbus Ohio sucks.

The UPS guy in my area is great. He rings the bell or knocks and leaves the package by the front door. The FEDEX guy on the other hand always leaves the package leaning against the garage door. I expect some day to open the garage door and back over one his deliveries.

Hope that was sarcasm. I’ve has USPS literally stuff over-sized parcels into my mailbox. I had to replace an old aluminum mailbox, because they crammed in a box that warped the structure and the door wouldn’t close.

Just last week I ordered a new keyboard for my laptop. The package was CLEARLY marked "fragile" and "do not bend". So the mail-guy shoves it into my mailbox to the point that it put a 30 degree bend in it near the last quarter of the board! I managed to get it un-bent (with some care and time), but even if I would have had to send it back, the guy cost me a lot of time and effort...

“I say “Hail Mary” whenever I put something out in my mailbox.”

Ha! I’ll have to remember that one!

I have had the post office lose only a couple packages in the 12 years I have used them for ebay sales. I usually have about $2,000.00 to $3,000.00 in postal charges each year. Before everything went to hell that figure was between 4-5 thousand a year. These are packages mostly sent first class mail and priority mail - thats a massive amount of packages sent correctly by the USPO. Granted, they screw some things up royally but compared to post offices in other parts of the world we are lucky.

From my own experiences we have the best postal system in the world.

I do not use UPS or FEDEX - too expensive. Besides, a good deal of the UPS packages get to where they are going by way of the USPO. Why pay the additional cost.
