Grandma can always boil the leather chair. Then she’ll be glad she bought as she sips her soup.

Just messin’ with ya’. I’ve got food and ammo. I’m sure not enough but hopefully enough to hold me over until I can come up with a plan of long term survival.

You know of course that people are not going to politely die in their homes. They are going to the neighbors and take their food. Even if you’re Rambo you can’t be awake all the time, you don’t have an infinite amout of ammo and you can’t fight a pack of desperate people. If we have a total collaspe the folks with the canned goods and chickens may last a little longer or they may be the first to go.

Obama has already invited to voters to kick him out of office if he did a poor job as President. Obama is only interests in radically transforming the country, so being a President is the only thing important.

The fact is that he hopes the voters will really try to kick him out of office so he can start up Plan B.

The mom in this story probably is a liberal democrat who voted for barack.

Excellent point. The food stamps probably got stolen and now they have no idea what to do!

One more thing. I’m a small, shy woman but there’s no way I’d sit and watch my kid die of starvation. I would do whatever was necesssary to get some food. If you look at post war Germany or Russia under Stalin it’s amazing what ordinary, timid people can do if they need to live one more day. I’m not knocking prepers but please don’t sit back and smugly think you’re gonna ride it out why every body else just fades away. If things really get that bad a lot of people will die, the smart and the dumb, the prepared and the sheeple.

Has anybody seen the movie, “The Road”? I saw it last week and it’s a pretty scary vision of the future....

You can only stock so much ammo, it seems.

How many rounds could you possibly need for home defense? As I see it, I'm unlikely to fire more than perhaps 100 rounds of 12 ga. even with repeated "zombie" attacks on my home before something goes "oopsie". It's VERY easy to stock thousands of rounds, and even though I think I'm good, I don't believe I'm good enough to need as much as I have and still be alive.

Yep, you are better off getting the food by force when it comes to that than having to store and defend.

Planning to kill other people and steal their stuff.

Highly moral plan.

My friend who lives in Washington State says she can’t understand why there are any people in her state that are hungry as there is an abundance of food in the forests ripe for the picking.

Yup. Lots of Freepers with Armageddon Fantasies. I think that they believe they'll just barricade themselves in their "compounds" and occasionally use a shotgun to shoo away a few hungry, unprepared Democrats that come calling (preferably between the hours of 8 and 5, Mon-Fri).

Nothing wrong with being ready. But, IMHO, a real, honest-to-goodness SHTF end-of-the-world scenario can't be prepared for, and certainly shouldn't be looked forward to.

I'm prepared for the most likely case (a hurricane or ice storm...no power, H20, etc, for a couple of weeks). To me, it makes the most sense, and I could fit most of what's needed (plus family) in the truck to bug out to safer ground. All of the food and ammo in the world won't do you any good if it's underwater, or buried. :-)

I can see a couple hundred delicious looking cattle from my window. I’ll re-stock my 30-06 rounds later and call it a day.

Don’t know about any of that (DoJ plans) but I fully expect election year chaos from Occupiers. Previous appearances were just rehearsals.

I'm especially fond of the hamburger trees myself.

as there is an abundance of food in the forests ripe for the picking.

When I was kid, June was for picking wild stawberries, July was for blackberries and raspberries, August for blueberries, and October was for apples.

Mom and Dad had a huge freezer, we froze gallons of stuff. Not enough to "live off the land", but it sure made a dent in the grocery budget.
