President Obama's former shadow, so-called body man Reggie Love, now has a new job in the spotlight: promoting his former boss's re-election campaign.
What's more, he's telling secrets. As in urging supporters to hurry up and enter the $3 raffle for a campaign dinner with Obama and first lady Michelle Obama. He calls the event a rare and special moment that any presidential fan should jump at a chance at.

A raffle is by definition a lottery, an illegal way to raise money for a political campaign, if memory serves.

It is apparently illegal in California. From the California Department of Justice website (emphasis mine.)
Only eligible private, tax-exempt nonprofit groups qualified to conduct business in California for at least one year prior to conducting the raffle may conduct raffles to raise funds for the organization and charitable or beneficial purposes in California.
And in Texas, a Dallas Constable is on trial, for among other things, holding an illegal political raffle. The Dallas Morning News says State law does not allow raffles to benefit political campaigns.
Let's see if the Resident gets away with this one. Any bets?
