OK, so YOU run on “getting rid of “ Social Security. How intelligent would that be? It is possible to be RIGHT and still be wrong. I appreciate your sentiment however.
There most assuredly IS a TRUST FUND. It is described in the enabling legislation from the original ACT. Quite true that LBJ stole the money from it to hide his deficits— he and the DEMOCRATS did so illegally, and every year since it has happened. It does not change the fact that no one taxpayer has the ability to reduce their “tax” exposure to this mandatory funded “trust fund”.
I would be for privatizing the entire system, as in what has worked for Chile for many years. Why can’t we do this— precisely because of the idiotic political gamesmanship both lying parties engage in on this program. They are worse than Madoff and Corzine combined.
Provided you paid enough over a long enough period (used to be called 40 quarters or 10 years) you are eligible for it.
With no link between what you pay and how long you pay it this system follows no known economic or fiscal standards.
All too painfully true. Dismantling it would dismantle the entire democrat machine from FDR onward—and every single example of the FEDERAL government’s theft of private property, lives, private opportunity, and intellectual property (like the TVA, Coal Board, Dept. of Agriculture price supports... and on and on).
And that is precisely what was intended when SS was formed—a way to virtually enslave generations with an expanding “entitlement” that never ends... and has not kept up with the times or the longevity of modern man. They will NEVER let it be dismantled— and defunding it like this just helps Cloward Piven to it’s goal of total breakdown of the society. High stakes. Deo Vindice
I don’t care for former rat Shelby either. It’s a shame he beat Senator Denton in 1986.
