I'm defending the working mother who has been outwardly and tacitly attacked here....

..by insulting those of us who choose to stay at home, that's how you defend their position?

Civil discourse (mark the word, civil) does not include name calling and insults.

I haven't counted, but you probably have more posts on this one thread than anyone else....

..and I think you need to go read your home page again!

I know lots of men who would never admit it... but they want the money the wife brings home.

They like the top-of-the-line SUV instead of the compact.

They like nice vacations.

They like the six-bedroom McMansion instead of the one-story older tract home.

They are just as willing as their wives are to warehouse the kids in daycare, blaming “the economy” or “high taxes.”

All bunk, from both mothers and fathers. They. Want. The. Money.

The kids come second.

Lol, TSgt sounds bitter.

Maybe deep down he wanted his wife to be a SAHM, but she put her foot down and had her way since she wears the pants in the relationship.

I was with you all along until you said this:

Most stay-at-home moms I know are uneducated. Just saying...

With a wife as well educated as yours, I'm surprised you know any uneducated women.

I was fortunate in that I had the benefit of both worlds as I worked for myself and mostly from home, so my daughter had a stay at home mom who also worked. When I needed to attend a meeting I had half the staff of the entire legislature begging me to leave her with them. heck I even had clients who begged me to let them watch her while I was attending a meeting for them.

I enjoyed being with her, and now that she is a teenager and often gets on my last nerve, I'm very happy I was able to have it both ways when she was younger.

There is nothing wrong with either choice, IMO and I've got serious problems with anyone who seeks to tear down those who made different choices. Just sayin'............

OMG, I can’t believe she is 2 already. Time really flies, doesn’t it? I’m so happy for you.

Two and a half actually - she’s gotten so big. This Christmas is going to be awesome and we’re starting her reading lessons next week. Time flies! I’ve been very blessed to be able to spend almost every minute of those two years with her at all times - I know other mommies have to make other choices but I’m glad this option was open to us.

As horrible as this sounds, I have always felt that WOMEN keep women down. More women bully, belittle and humiliate other women than men do. Just my opinion.

BINGO! The worst bosses I ever had were women. (or short men, I'm 5'10")

The best bosses I ever had were men. Yes, usually taller than me (5’8”).

Why do you find a need to be so nasty? You are only hurting your own position by attempting to tear down that of others. It’s rather unseemly.

Oh yes, this Christmas will be awesome. My Jax (she is now Jacqui) was an absolute hoot the Christmas she was 2 1/2. Enjoy every minute of it, I know I did.

We get on each other’s nerves now (we’re both alpha personalities) but we also have a wonderful relationship. She was so funny about a Christmas present for her “boyfriend.” Mom won that debate and when she got home from school this afternoon she thanked me for insisting she had to put some thought into it. She hasn’t let go of the big red stuffed dog he gave her and is trying to figure out how to wear the glittery cloth rose it is holding in her hair for Church Saturday evening!

One of my favorite “bosses” was actually shorter than you, but never had a “little man” complex. He was a hoot when my daughter was born, he wanted no part of her. This is a man with 5 children, 14 grandchildren, and at least 3 great grandchildren, but has a total fear of infants. Once they start walking and/or talking he’s in love, but until then.......

I’m not defensive, nasty or bitter.

Go back and read posts posts 4, 28 and 71 which directly state or imply that working women are not wholesome, are stupid or are okay with low quality care for their children.

Maybe you’ll share some of that scorn this Holiday Season with others...

The FReeper was talking to a female friend. The friend said, approximately, that "She was making $50/hr, and a nanny only cost $15/hr, so it was more cost-effective to go to work and hire a nanny". Freeper's reply? "So, you think that your kids only deserve a $15/hr Mom, and not a $50/hr one?" Perfect squlech, IMO. I think that it's one thing if you NEED to work - or - if you CHOOSE to work. But, to choose to work, just to fulfill some feminist fantasy, is ridiculous

I guess you are okay with a $15 an hour pediatrician? I don't know of anyone who endured medical school just to live out a fantasy...

I really enjoy this forum and am as conservative as the next FReeper however there are times when can only shake my head at some of the seriously backwards perspectives that are shared here.

FRiends, it’s almost 2012 not 1950.

And while this may shock you I want you to know that there are beautiful, highly intelligent, loving mothers out there who can successfully work and be a wonderful mother and wife. I know, I’m married to one.
