Gas Prices Hit Record High Averages in 2011 (Costs average family $4,155 more! Way to go Hussein!)
kcrg.com ^ | 12/21/11 | Addison Speck

Posted on 12/22/2011 1:28:56 PM PST by Recovering_Democrat

...this years average cost of fuel sets a new record. For 2011, the national average price for fuel is about $3.50 a gallon. That accounts for about 8.4% of the average American family’s income, the highest percentage in 30 years.

The average American household will have spent, a record, $4,155 filling up this year. Though it’s not what some Eastern Iowans wanted to hear, for many it wasn’t a surprise.

All this crap about $1,000 a year, and Hussein's POLICIES have led the average family to pay more than four times as much for gasoline!

I am so sick of the fake drama over this BULL**** social security tax.

Obama’s answer is to block the Keystone pipeline to bring more oil supply from friendly Canada into the US.

For that alone he should be voted out of office.

Well, the temporary 2% cut in social security will let them buy a pizza a week for the next two months (assuming they can afford the gas to go get it). This only helps the wealthy people though. Wealthy = have job, have car.

Not to rub salt in the wound, but that does not even count the added costs in the products we buy due to the cost of gasoline. Talk about inflation....

I am so sick of the fake drama over this BULL**** social security tax.

You and 40 million others....

Let alone a 2 month time frame of starving the coffers of social security will do much more damage than good let alone the administrative costs of the 2 month starvation of social security will cost more in itself than what would be helped by the lack of the retirement payments.

Gas prices have come down.

By October of next year, they will be at 1.99 a gallon, although your energy bill will have doubled. You will be told you saved money.

The media will tout the gasoline, ignore the electric bill and the world will bleat, “ohhhhbahhhhmaaaaaaaa”

It’s gone up, to be sure, but the EPA is just getting started. Wait until they shut down, at a minimum 60, the bad coal fired electric plants. The cost of everything will skyrocket more than it has. Food has gone up quite a bit as well, and that’s just the tip of the iceberg.

Most of the increase started under GWB and was due to his weak dollar. And his weak dollar was due to his love of government growth, and his desire to let the parts of our economy that contribute most to growth twist in the wind.

You got that right!
He promised us that under his proposed policies, energy costs would skyrocket.

One promise the bastard is trying hard to keep. How this sad sack of **** can get reelected is simply the realization of prediction by Alexis deToqueville in the 1830s.

Don’t forget the federal ‘surcharges’ added to your telephone, water, sewage, electricity, gas and cable. My utilities have been out of this world. To make matters worse, I didn’t realize that a couple had gone up from what I usually paid a month because I get my bills online and they are automatically paid for the same amount on the same date every month so I don’t always check. Bam! I got hit with MAJOR late fees for two months.

You headline must be wrong, there is no way the average family paid $4155 MORE...$4155 in total maybe, but not ‘more’.

I was thinking the same thing. The average driver drives about 12k mi/year, and the average price of gas is about $3.50/gal. If the average car gets about 30 mpg, then the average driver spends about (12000 mi/yr)($3.50/gal)(1/30 gal/mi) = $1400/yr. Figure 3 drivers per family, and the $4155 figure is about the total cost. However, the assertion above is in BOLD ALL CAPS, so it must be true.

Have Obama’s policies been wrong for U.S. domestic oil production? Yes. No doubt.

Had they been different, over just the past two years, would U.S. domestic oil production levels have amassed increased output levels sufficient to have radically changed the retail price of gasoline - a world commodity???

Not by much, if at all.

The changes needed with regard to U.S. domestic oil production, even if enacted two years ago, are changes that at most will affect FUTURE and long term U.S. domestic oil output, and help SLOW domestic retail gasoline price increases - IN THE LONG TERM.

There are things to blame Obama for with regard to U.S. domestic oil production issues - recent prices of gasoline is not big on that list; there are bigger world economic and energy supply matters affecting today’s gasoline prices.

I’ve noticed regular gasoline selling for $2.93 in area’s around San Antonio. I figure it is a re-election ploy so the zipperhead could claim that he has lowered the price gasoline, then have it shoot up again after the November elections.

I don’t doubt it for half a heartbeat. Add on “errands” you most likely had to do and spouse/significant other doing their thing. There is no way “average” is 12000 miles per year. That is dealeship lease stuff there.

Americans have to choose between eating lunch or having enough gas to get to work. The solution many have taken is to sleep in their cars at the company parking lot. Obama’s economy is all about Americans having the ingenuity to survive it.

I’m just saying that it’s not realistic that the figure is $4155 more per family. Just a back-of-the-envelope calculation. The miles driven per year per driver may be more like 20k miles. I don’t trust .gov figures any more than you!
