“Police broke up the camp last month and arrested nearly 300 people. An estimated $1.6 million was spent on police overtime.”

All LA had to do was stop them on day one. It’s LA’s fault they spent overtime and maintenance budget; not the occupiers. Who, exactly would they sue? Individuals? Is Occupy a corporation? (Boy wouldn’t THAT be ironic!)
If they sue individuals, which ones? Did LA identify all the individuals? I can see the third grade reasoning of, if-one-then-everybody, as in;” if you didn’t bring enough gum for everybody you can’t chew it.” (To which I replied, but that’s communism. Let them bring their own gum. Whereupon I met the board of education.)
