Kwanzaa Is Wack:There, I Said It (Black who used to observe it realized it is BOGUS)

Kwanzaa is wack. The other day I said this on my Facebook page. Actually, what I said was: “Is it wrong of me to say that I love AFRICA, but I think Kwanzaa is wack?

Now, when I said it, I meant it but gave no thought to how it might affect people. I’m kind of bad like that. A ton of people (some Black and some not) got on and said they thought Kwanzaa was wack too. I never thought about it again really. Just a funny little thread.

Then someone got real upset. I felt bad about that, truly. But the reality is that Kwanzaa was created by an FBI informant named Dr. Maulana Karenga. Straight up! That’s an actual fact. Beyond that, stuff like corn that is used in a lot of the rituals is not even native to Africa. A friend of mine noted “it’s truly corny.”

I spent 12 years working the African continent from Cairo to the Cape. I never heard “Kwanza” mentioned, or observed anyone celebrating it.

Folks commenting on the article's site seemed a bit perturbed that the “holy” Kwanza would be dissed instead of just explained. Not bright enough to understanding that explaining and dissing are one and the same for Kwanza.

When I was in college in the 1980s, the administration “recognized” Kwanzaa along with Christmas and Hanukkah, but only a few blacks participated in it.

Nearly all the blacks at my schools were Christians and celebrated Christmas. And I’m pretty sure that’s not unusual.

““Is it wrong of me to say that I love AFRICA,.....”

Is it wrong of me to say that I love NORTH AMERICA? Yes. I would say, “I love the United States of America”, a COUNTRY! Now I realize African countries change their names more often than Barney Frank changes his condom, but still, love for a CONTINENT? Australia and Antarctica excluded because Australia is also a country, and Antarctica has no countries and even Europe with the EU, is still sovereign individual countries.

It's hard to love a continent.

Unlike in Florida, there are not many black people in my area. I saw one walking near the neighborhood during the fall, and fought down the urge to stop the car to shake his hand. "You're black! Thank you..."

I'm kidding of course, but it's a massive culture shock out here still. As best as I can tell, we are the most "exotic" family in the neighborhood! We checked the demos and found that .004 percent of the population was Cuban and thought:"It must hurt to be .004 percent of someone."

Ok, enough, Arizona isn't really that homogenic, the breakdown of cultures is spread out, with more Latinos and blacks further South in the Phoenix area.

Anyway, the point being, if there's any major benefit, I never have to hear about Kwanza out here. For that much, I'm grateful. OTOH, I don't know any black people that celebrate it from Florida, so who knows if it's any more than divisive liberal BS pushed upon that part of the populace to compel them to further embrace an identity that's less American and more culturally isolated?

Not sure if it is available anywhere but the funniest Kwanzaa commentary was from Tim Meadows on SNL. It is a skit with Vanessa Williams celebrating Kwanzaa and Tim goes by ‘Kwanzaa Timmy’. Really funny if you can find it!

“I’m surprised there’s not a Charlie Brown special, featuring Franklin.”

Charles Schultz (God rest his soul) would have never made it; he was so disgusted with the secular Christmas specials that he made one of the few children’s specials that included a reference to the birth of Christ (along with “Hark the Herald”). Most of the other “Christmas” specials were made for non-Christian children.

“it is time to celebrate this fake holiday.”

This was a pathetic attempt to further separate “black” Americans from other Americans; the Klan couldn’t have done a better job, and apparently it has failed anyway. Like many other assimilated groups, blacks have little left of their ancestral heritage, including this fabricated nonsense invented over 100 years after the end of the Civil War.

How can anyone love a continent that went out of its way to gather you up and sell you to the slave traders. Fellow Africans were their own worst enemies. Those who were gathered and sent to America as slaves fared much better than those who remained behind because those left behind were killed or enslaved to their own captors.

There are a lot of differences between Christmas and the very screwball Kwanzaa, the biggest one is the fact that it violates the prime directive of all politically thinking liberals: it is not inclusive (grrr!). There are no directives from Christian authorities that Christmas is only to be for people of a certain ethnic heritage. Anybody can be a Christian and enjoy Christmas, and even most Black Americans are Christians. Also, Christians don’t care if non-Christians enjoy Christmas. But Kwanzaa was designed to be a holiday celebrated only by certain people, Black Americans, to thumb their noses at White people. So basically Kwanzaa is not only non-inclusive (oh horror!!), it’s racist.

The laughable part about Kwanzaa is that it’s a liberal attempt to disavow Christianity and Christmas as symbol of white oppression against Africans. So let’s give Africans their own winter holiday that’s supposedly derived from African history and culture.

The only problem with that is that Africa was one of the first places Christianity came to after the Ascension. Africans were present when they heard Peter speak at Pentecost. Alexandria was one of the centers of Christian theological learning, and many of the early shapers were African, like Augustine. Christianity was in Africa long before it became the state religion to Europe.

The real Kwanzaa is a fabrication of leftist bigots in their attempt to rewrite history so as to establish their own political dominance of their leftist ideology. That’s it’s sole purpose. It’s an unquestionably contrived, manufactured holiday with no basis in anything other than that.

By Kathy Shaidle

‘Twas the night before Kwanzaa
And all through the ‘hood,
Maulana Karenga was up to no good.

He’d tortured a woman and spent time in jail.
He needed a new scam that just wouldn’t fail.
(”So what if I stuck some chick’s toe in a vice?
Nobody said revolution was nice!”)

The Sixties were over. Now what would he do?
Why, he went back to school — so that’s “Dr.” to you!
He once ordered shootouts at UCLA
Now he teaches Black Studies just miles away.

Then to top it all off, the good Doctor’s new plan
Was to get rid of Christmas and piss off The Man.

Karenga invented a fake holiday.
He called the thing Kwanza. “Hey, what’s that you say?

“You don’t get what’s ‘black’ about Maoist baloney?
You say that my festival’s totally phony?

“Who cares if corn isn’t an African crop?
Who cares if our harvest’s a month or two off?
Who cares if Swahili’s not our mother tongue?
A lie for The Cause never hurt anyone!

“Umoja! Ujima! Kujichagulia, too!
Collectivist crap never sounded so cool!
Those guilty white liberals — easy to fool.
Your kids will now celebrate Kwanzaa in school!”

And we heard him exclaim as he drove out of sight:
“Happy Kwanzaa to all, except if you’re white!”

In the future Kwanzaa will be a footnote—a joke. Only when such things are trashed will blacks be really free. I will know that day when “Song of the South” is re-released.
