It’s not like we were going to. High-speed rail is considered a boondoogle by the Republican Party and can’t get enough votes to be built anywhere across country.
They can kill or imprison half their population, and still have a nation of “free”” Chinese that is twice as big as the US.
At least they’ll die REALLY FAST.
In a numbers game it is the only way to win.

That's because it's also one of the least subsidized train systems. And that's a good thing.
It's a government program. There are no risks. The only question is the size of the subsidy which, in the case of high speed rail, is massive and ongoing.

Most of the proletariat does not own the means of production. The greedy capitalist do and they employ their capital were it gets the best return. f you are an employee and wish to own your job so that it cannot be sold then save your money and buy one. If you cannot or wish not to do that then leave the rest of the people who do invest money alone.
Machines exist to produce things which are usually sold to make a profit. If the thing cannot be sold for a profit then the machine is unneeded. Would you force a company to use machines if their use is unprofitable so long as they have jobs attached to them?
The US sells used and obsolete machines all over the world. By your logic it all needs to stay so people can keep “their” jobs. Maybe we can get back all those buggy whip machines. They employed lots of people.

Yeah, real simple. So a 100% tariff on oil, that will really help jobs when we are paying to 2X world prices for oil.
The market will sort it out after a tariff. If you like markets why not let them sort it out before the tariffs. Or do you just hate the fact that we are free to spend our money as we see fit?
Just stating the facts, sir. If the Dems were in power, tose “choo choos” would be under construction. Then we might have a reason to care if the Chinese had obtained the plans from us.
More likely they got them from a source in the EU, where these trains are more popular.
And you don’t have to worry, because we’re not going to see those trains here anytime soon. The auto is a protected species, and the oil and gas industries will continue to get $4 billion in taxpayer subsidies every year.
However, when one looks at Europe and Japan, the US economy is doing much better. Unemployment in some European countries are around 20%. And Japan is starting to experience deflation.
While the next 10 years, maybe more, will be tough going, I do not believe it is the end of US or Europe or Japan economic development or progress. What is happening, is the established countries are having to deal with the rising BRICSS countries. With China being the most significant of the bunch.
As I mentioned many times before, I do not believe trade is a zero sum game. I just don't see it.
