Texas Governor Rick Perry is playing up his status as a Washington outsider in a new TV ad released today, which will air on broadcast and cable TV in Iowa.
The ad flashes a picture of the four current or former members of Congress running against Perry in the Republican presidential race: former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum, Texas Representative Ron Paul, and Minnesota Representative Michele Bachmann.
If Washingtons the problem, why trust a congressman to fix it? the announcer says. The announcer says Perrys opponents have spent a combined 63 years in Congress leaving us with debt, earmarks, and bailouts.

A high compliment from a La Raza Rick drone. :-)
Should we scrap the idea of ever having a balanced budget amendment too?
Changing the guy at the top and making a few minor adjustments isn't going to cut it.
Right now Republicans hold 29 governorships and 6 red/purple states have Democrat governors. (Kentucky, Colo.Ark,Missouri,Mont. WV). Perry was the chair of the Republican Governors Association.
If Perry is the nominee, big changes are coming to DC and he has the ground game in all those states to make things happen.
Think about this too, Haley Barbour runs a very powerful PAC that raises big money. Enough to challenge the RNC on issues and candidates.
The governors are where this whole thing is gonna work.
Like the ones we'll put on the border when Perry is President to send real time information to the Guard units and Border Patrol. ;-)
Denial ain’t just a river in Egypt, Norm.
IF you'd rather NOT be pinged FReepmail me.
IF you'd like to be added FReepmail me. Thanks.

Which was the founders' total and unvarying intent.
Has anyone else read the Federalist Papers?
BS!!!
I don't remember the Constitutional Amendment that made either house of Congress a cushy full time job!
Citizen politicians.
Every single one of your points can be explained or defended.
I’ve had three days of Christmas and I’m tired.
All of these things have been debated and explained on Perry threads for two months.
If I thought you were truly interested I would give you a rational take (my take :) on everything you’ve named, but I think you are wedded to your own opinion and wouldn’t be interested.
But thank you for saying you will vote for Perry if nominated.
I have zero respect for people who announce they won’t vote for this or that candidate.
They will be voting for Obama as surely as if they pulled the lever or punched the card for him.
Iowa is a week away and our goal as Republicans and more importantly, Americans, is to get rid of Obama.
This pipe dream of Palin coming to the rescue is bad news. It isn't happening.
Rick Perry has the best record to beat Obama. Now get on board one of the trains that have been campaigning for the last 5 months and work to defeat Obama, not the Republican.
Now if you want to say Perry can't beat Obama because of X, great, let's hear it. I can tell you why Newt and Mitt and Paul can't beat Obama but the time for beating them over the head, for me, has passed.
We are on the same side. I don't mean to sound so damn negative, but man oh man, I'm really cynical now day’z.
Get some rest, God bless.
To U2 Cinci wife, no hard feelings.
Go Trump 2012....just kidding, just kidding. :)
I don't think so...I think there were too many of us who refused to vote for dad Bush even if Perot had not entered the race...Bush wouldn't have gotten the votes...
Another third party candidate would elect Obama.
Maybe, maybe not...Depends on the Republican sheeple...But I'll take that chance again, if need be...
You guys should have known that dad Bush wouldn't win...The only reason jr. won is because enough of us held our noses and had to walk backwards into the polling booth to vote for George...
But you certainly should have known with McCain...
If Romney wins the nomination, you may as well pack it up because there will enough of us who will not vote for him that he can't win...If you guys want to win, you may have to hold your nose for a change...
I actually saw a guy wearing a t-shirt that said, dont blame me, I voted for Perot.
This was right after Clinton got elected. I really wanted to hit him but he was big (and fat).
That's alright if you can run really fast after you get him mad...
As far as the candidate that has the best chance to beat O-bozo...it would be Perry. I say this painfully.
Just don't trust the man, just don't.
Yes, and both govenors have only been married once!
So, you confess...nice work.
Yes, we are doing better than most here in Texas.
Trusting God helps!
They will be voting for Obama as surely as if they pulled the lever or punched the card for him.
But then I'm not asking for your respect...
Will you vote for Ron Paul if he is the nominee???
You guys don't seem to learn...I don't get it...With the numbers Perot was getting, it was impossible for Bush to win but yet you guys voted for him anyway...
When McCain ran, there were far better people for America than McCain or Romney in the line up...People told you guys from the beginning that McCain couldn't win...You picked him anyway...
Romney can't win the election if he is the nominee...The real conservatives will dump him in the end...And I can't imagine Newt getting enough crossover Democratic votes to win an election...
If next November Tea Party and Independents are looking at someone outside the GOP box, you guys would do well to reconsider because that guy outside the box will likely be more conservative and pro American than anyone in box anyway...And you could live with him/her in the end...
I pulled out my Perot campaign T-shirt a while back. I liked the lil fella, really did.
That said, Rick Perry has the best record to beat Obama with. I actually suggested on a closed Perry site I am a member of that Perry consider Rand Paul for VP.
I don't see any candidate out there who could run as an independent and get my vote though.
It's been a long time since I've heard a Perot "story"...he must be about 90. My favorite story was when Perot fired the guy who didn't meet the dress code...but the guy didn't work for Perot.
Perot was Trump with a lot less hair!
