Rick Perry's Taxpayer-Funded Security Costs Rise
Texas Tribune ^ | 12.25.11 | Jay Root

Gov. Rick Perry was near the height of his popularity when he barnstormed California in September to raise money for his presidential bid and to participate in his first nationally televised debate.

His state-provided security guards were flying pretty high, too, spending more than $32,000 in taxpayer money for travel and lodging in San Francisco, $4,400 to dine near the Ronald Reagan Library and Museum in Simi Valley, and another $6,400 for plane tickets to San Diego, records show.

Do you believe everything you read? Have you researched and verified the numbers? I’m just saying this publication is in partnership with the NY Slimes. Not a paper most FReepers turn to for information.

Your responses are very 'knee-jerk' and so typical these days. When one doesn't like the message and deal with it constructively then one must attack the messenger. So liberal like. If you claim to be a conservative then suck it up and demand answers rather try and shift the blame when the message sucks. This advice applies to all the candidates and their campaigns. Take responsibility Perry!

Can you please cite the Texas Law that dictates that the governor’s security staff must drop $4,400 of tax payer money for dinner?

And all the while not going about the business of Texas tax payers and its citizens. This all to protect him while he is out shopping a new job prospect for himself which he was not elected to do. His campaign should be required to repay all this state money. Is any other candidate having his/her security detail paid for by their states treasury or any other governmental entity for that matter?
