Obama’s trip to the island of Oahu has proved much pricier to state and federal taxpayers.

In a Hawaii Reporter story published last week, the total cost (based on what is known) for a 17-day round trip vacation to Hawaii for the President and his family and staff and security is an estimated $4,113,038.

That includes $3,629,622 for separate travel for the president and his family, $151,200 for housing for security, $72,216 for staff to stay in one of Hawaii's most luxurious resorts, the Moana Surfrider in Waikiki, and local police protection and ambulance detail for $260,000.

Obama sees himself as more of a monarch than an elected leader.

Dictators do this.

He treats the federal treasury as his own personal bank account.

Thanks dimrats and your media for bringing us this national nightmare.

And yet both Pelosi and Obama will probably be re-elected. Obama doesn’t really have any challengers in the current Republican field - they’re all just so weird lol All he needs to do is stand back and wait for them to eat each other.

Isn’t this one of those can’t see the forest for the trees kind of things? This is such small money it’s hardly worth considering, compared to say, the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, which cost about $350 million a day, or say the $700 billion for economic stimulus, or what we spend every day on Medicare. These can bankrupt a nation.

So Obama is a rich guy, I’m not going to fault him for being rich and enjoying hanging out in rich resorts. I’m not a class warfare guy. I’m upset about what he’s continuing to spend to run (ruin) the nation.

Really, if we’re going to allow presidents to take vacations, then it’s going to cost some bucks, but let’s keep focused on where the big money is going.

What??? “So Obama is a rich guy”? Since when could he afford a 4 mil vacation on his current net worth?

Ignore what you seem to think are the little things and you allow them to decide what is a big thing.

It all matters. Pennies to Trillions, it all matters equally if we’re going to stop it.

Then this rich spread someone else’s wealth around grifter should use HIS OWN $$$$$$$$$$$$$ for these ultra expensive trips.
I hate the class warfare effort this bunch of idiots are putting forth for the all too willing sheep to lap up like slop in a trough. I would suggest you go re read your own statement..
You don’t hold anything against 0bama for being a rich guy cuz you don’t hold with class warfare but you have no problem with this goon using taxpayer funds for these lavish holidays and putting the load on Americans who struggle and can’t even afford a holiday at all. The way you put your thought out one could infer you are a troll.

“let’s keep focused on where the big money is going.”

I say, we can be outraged by all extravagant spending — big and small.

I don’t begrudge the president a nice vacation. But, the extravagance is indicative of his whole philosophy that the federal treasury is available to satisfy his whim.

If he were paying for the vacation no one would be concerned.

The point is the costs of the Hawaiian vacations is taxpayer money spent wastefully. Obama could have stayed on the military base on Oahu for far less. His and her jets — one for him and another for his wife and kids — is beyond reasonable.

Or he could have stayed at the White House for Christmas like Reagan did so that the staff and secret service could spend Christmas with their families.

You suggest that Junio67 could be a troll. Junio67 became a member March 2011. He/she is concerned about the spending on the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. Hmmm. Usually complaining about military spending is something liberals do.

We spent money on those wars to stop more attacks like 9 11. We should the world American isn’t going to take being messed with. Maybe we didn’t need to rebuild these nations and maybe mistakes were made, but defending American is a conservative perspective.

O returns to his home state for a vacation, and you get incensed? So far as I know he paid for his own hotel bill, just like any of us would. The extra $4 million for security and such is what we pay for a president to travel anywhere. Are we going to ban presidential vacations?

Really, I get so sick of people complaining about nothing when there are such huge issues out there. Haven’t you noticed that the country is going broke? And it’s not because our presidents take a holiday now and then. People like you seem to forget that running multi-billion dollar deficits each year is what got us into this mess, not presidential travel. Get fired up about that. The way you put your thought out, you can’t see the forest for the trees.

You don’t worry about $1 trillion in unfunded spending for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan? It has long been a conservative principle that the budget must be balanced each year. If we fight a war, we should belly up and pay for it then, not put it on the credit card and leave it for later. This is not conservative thinking. This is the kind of thinking that got us into this fiscal mess.
