MEXICO CITY (AP) A Mexican anti-poverty official has been fired after posting a comment on social media sites suggesting that poor people smell bad.
Mexico's anti-poverty agency says Carlos Talavera has been fired as director of outreach brigades in the western city of Uruapan after a Facebook posting of his was re-tweeted on social media sites.
The original comment appears to describe an event attended by poor people and reads roughly "truth is this smells impressively bad, poor things."

ironic tho too.. No? Remember Harry Reid and the stinky tourists remarks? This guy gets fired, Reid got re-elected..
Was just gonna post the same about Harry Reid, ha!
Condemns the comment? Did the "social development department" go sniff the bums and come to a different conclusion?
In my job I deal with a lot of people who populate the “lower socio-economic classes.” This guy is correct!
Seems like they are too poor to buy soap, laundry detergent, and deodorant but they can always afford cigarettes and liquor.
My faves are the ones who are heavy smokers living in an enclosed area with a couple of dozen cats.
The truth will set you free...
...from your gainful employment.
What if he had instead said “old people smell bad?” I’m thinking of the Simpson’s comment “smells like Grandma.”
****Paging Harry Reid****
Yea, you don’t have to be poor to smell bad, just lazy or french.

Pretty bad BO when you are gagged by a smell in a barn
