Ex-Sen. Specter’s new career is comedy
By Joshua Altman - 12/28/11 12:11 PM ET

Former Sen. Arlen Specter (D-Pa.) found an open mic and performed Tuesday at a Philadelphia comedy club to tell “some of the inside stories” of Washington.

Specter spun tales of former President Clinton and former Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell (D), and just the mention of former presidential candidate Herman Cain elicited some of the biggest laughs of the act.

“I should have started with Herman Cain, he gets a helluva laugh just by being identified,” Specter said with a shrug.

Comedy is not just a hobby Specter picked up in retirement after losing his seat in 2010. He said he has been performing for 30 years.

“I’ve been in comedy for 30, for 30 years. The only difference is it’s not stand up, we all have comfortable chairs. It costs, it costs about $27 million to win a seat in the United States Senate, so when you win one you like to sit down. It’s sit-down comedy.”

Specter represented Pennsylvania in the Senate from 1981 to 2011, switching from Republican to Democrat in 2009.

Embarrassing to watch. Was the crowd paid with drinks before hand, or were these people OWS types who were just happy to be in from the cold?

Herman Cain is a better man than Arlen Sphincter could ever dream of being. Sphincter is a disloyal, vile and venomous snake (with apologies to all the other more honorable snakes out there).

One of the few moments of satisfaction for conservatives in the recent past was seeing this RINO dork getting his sorry butt kicked to the curb where it belonged.

Spectre’s whole career as a politician was a joke.

And to think some believed this worthless vulgarian couldn’t get any lower.

When I ran for public office in 2004, I appeared at three events with this disgusting excuse for a human and I’m proud to say tat I never shook his claw.

Pretty funny, Arlen, you (unprintable).

If I wasn’t a believing Christian, I suspect I’d openly celebrate that man’s death.

Pretty pathetic when you have to get laughs by telling people that Bill Clinton is your friend and you know it because you voted against his impeachment ...despite the overwhelming evidence.

Arlen Sphincter ends his routine with a joke mocking a parapalegic. Liberals are the most heartless people alive ...and they prove it everyday if you just listen and watch.
