Presidential contender Rick Santorum believes he is gaining momentum. Does the former Pennsylvania senator have a chance at winning the Republican nomination?

Presidential hopeful Gary Johnson announced Wednesday that he’s bolting the Republican Party in favor of a long-shot Libertarian bid.

Mr. Johnson, a former two-term governor of New Mexico, blamed the Republican establishment for freezing him out of debates, despite his “solid record of job creation” and experience leading the border state.

libertarian paternalism

Savage has mentioned libertarian stuff. I don't want to miss the opportunity to mention what the behavioral economists loosed upon us by Obama are doing; to wit, the czars and their fetters.

Obama's regulatory czar Cass R. Sunstein writes:

"The idea of libertarian paternalism might seem to be an oxymoron, but it is both possible and legitimate for private and public institutions to affect behavior while also respecting freedom of choice."

more..

"Often people's preferences are ill-formed . . . In these circumstances, a form of paternalism cannot be avoided [to overcome the decision-makers' limited knowledge and just plain stupidity otherwise known as] bounded rationality . . . libertarian paternalists should attempt to steer people's choices in welfare-promoting directions without eliminating freedom of choice . . . It is also possible to show how a libertarian paternalist might select among the possible options and to assess how much choice to offer." [End of quotes]

IOW Cass R. Sunstein and the Obamanists decide the options from among which you are permitted to choose. You get to be a libertarian! and they get to be the slave masters. What a deal!

Sunstein in the past has condemned Free Republic as a bad thing.

Presidential contender Rick Santorum believes he is gaining momentum. Does the former Pennsylvania senator have a chance at winning the Republican nomination?

Savage contends Tea Party people are backing Gingrich. Yet is that completely accurate?

When asked who they really want, I've heard more say they prefer Santorum since he sounds more conservative. They hesitate since they think he doesn't have "traction", yet they don't like the thought of the media selecting their candidate so they may just go for him instead of Newt.

Now during the top of the hour news break, I also heard Santorum is building up his numbers in Iowa. All those 99 counties -- visiting the 99% over 99 weeks?

Speaking of mistaking a guy for a girl, Savage thinks Romney may be the next Meg Whitman.

Actually, they’ve been friends since their days at Bain. I believe Romney told Whitman to try a run for governor of California.

“Savage contends Tea Party people are backing Gingrich. Yet is that completely accurate?”
____________________________________________

I think there probably a number of Tea Party folks who harken back to the 1994 Gingrich Revolution, when Newt was quite impressive.

I can see that we are now in one hell of a mess in selecting
a “must win” candidate.

Our only hope may be that Obumbo becomes so overconfident,
he will inject far more Marxist ideology, or damage prior to the election, and wake up the moronic voters, ready to vote for anyone but Obumbo.

Hijabs - I thought it was JROTC only.

"The Defense Department will now allow JROTC cadets to wear an Islamic headscarf (hijab) during training and parades formations."

I keep hearing folks say to let the ILLEGAL aliens serve in our military.. when I was on active duty with the Army in the late 1950s you had to be LEGAL. It was an honorable thing for LEGAL immigrants to serve. Much appreciated by all.

Isn't it still required to serve in our military that you must be LEGAL?

Savage is talking about being in S.F. I thought he was in FL. Must be encore time already.
