NEW YORK (AP) -- Several Muslim leaders have declined invitations to the mayor's annual year-end interfaith breakfast, saying they're upset at police department efforts to infiltrate mosques and spy on Muslim neighborhoods.
The imams and activists said in a letter to Mayor Michael Bloomberg that they're disturbed at his response to a series of stories by The Associated Press detailing New York Police Department intelligence-gathering programs that monitored Muslim groups, businesses and houses of worship.
Bloomberg has defended the NYPD, saying last week it doesn't take religion into account in its policing.
Bloomberg spokesman Stu Loeser acknowledged Wednesday that about a dozen people turned down the breakfast invitation. But he said "a couple dozen" more said they plan to attend.
The Muslim leaders said they appreciate the mayor's staunch support a year ago during an uproar over a planned Islamic center near the World Trade Center site. But they said they were disappointed by what he said after the AP stories since August about the police department's efforts to infiltrate Muslim neighborhoods and mosques with aggressive programs designed by a CIA officer who worked with the department after the Sept. 11 attacks.

Well, at least now they can take the goat off of the menu. That stuff is probably expensive anyway.

I hope them have planted more bugs in mosques than there are in hotel mattresses
Visiting a mosque would keep the average police department rather busy with material. Visiting a church or a synagogue, a yawn. I am a church pianist and was complimented after the service by an FBi agent once. I guess my music wasn’t sinister enough for them to care.
“.....efforts to infiltrate mosques and spy on Muslim neighborhoods.”
Just doing the proper action and right job to protect America against its enemies.
What’s wrong with that?
I’ve tried goat meat. It’s a little bit like venison if prepared right.
They’re always upset at something.
Too bad they won’t boycott the United States.
Aw shucks Just think about a great breakfast of ham and eggs and lox.
fill in the blank
A boycot by all muslim I consider a badge of knowlege, experience and honor. Clearly Boomomgidiot fails to qualify on all counts.
I’ll take more bacon and some pork sausage, too.
Why stop there! Leave the country for good and never come back.
Yeah? Well I’ve eaten year-old meat-hole whale on an ice floe in the Bering Sea,...and it tastes just like year-old whale!
If I ever had to walk on a Moslems property I would think about a scene from “The Great Escape” and how they disposed of the excess dirt.
And then I would shop at Costco for a jumbo container of bacon bits.
It would make a better statement to catapult a pig carcass that had been dead for a week up against the front door from afar so as to give it impact force for explosion.
You ever heard of the Chunkin’ Punkins?
A very diverse group of people that have taken ordinary farm and industrial equipment and have built trebuchets, catapults and air cannons that can lob a pumpkin over a half mile.
Now take those ideas and expand over a thousand times all across America, concealed air cannons in old school buses.
And arm them with bloated pig carcasses, sun ripened, of course.
saying they’re upset at police department efforts to infiltrate mosques and spy on Muslim neighborhoods.
If your religion was not based on terrorism oppression death and the destruction of America and Western civilization you likely would not have these problems........
