President Obama enjoyed a five-to-seven course tasting menu Wednesday night at a dinner in Honolulu with first lady Michelle Obama and 10 friends.
The dinner at Alan Wong's restaurant in Honolulu comes as the president enjoys his annual holiday break in Hawaii, a vacation nearly cut short by the fight over taxes with Republicans in Washington.
The Obama's are regulars at Wong's restaurant—both gave head chef Wong a hug upon entering before being taken to their “traditional table,” which Wong describes as the “feng shui” seat in the house, according to the pool reports.
The Obamas were part of a group of ten, which included the president’s sister, and the party ordered off a special tasting menu – a multi-course meal designed specifically by the chef.
“The Obama party had a special 5-course tasting menu for $75 a person, $105 per person with wine pairings for each course," according to the pool report. "Highlights include "Sassey Salad" and bacon wrapped pork loin,” according to CNN’s Peter Morris, who the pool report said was at the restaurant when the president arrived.
Other diners generally didn't notice the president's arrival, the pool report said.
The Obamas spent about three hours at the restaurant before returning to their rental at around 11 p.m.
Before the dinner, Obama hit the links, spending nearly seven hours at the Ko’olau golf club with Mike Ramos, Greg Orme and long-time friend Robert Titcomb, who earlier this year plead no contest to soliciting a prostitute in Honolulu.
BTW, did anyone ever release whether his buddy was busted with male or female prostitutes? There was a lot of questions about it at the time.

Are the taxpayers picking up the tab for the ten “friends”? This needs to be investigated. With transportation costs at 3.5M they must have brought along about 500 “friends.”
Fox reported that the press was miffed because Obama refused to release his golf schedule and dinner plans. Turns out (as told on Fox) that a member of the press was at the same restaurant and saw Obama there and reported details including that they spent three hours “tasting.”
Heh.....be careful not to mix up that phrase.

From what I can see the only thing that differentiates “Obama on vacation” from “Obama at word” is the location. He does pretty much the same stuff at both.
Yes, it is the last thing he thinks about before going to sleep at night, and the first thing he thinks about when he wakes up in the morning. He told us that, so it must be true.

The reason they did not release the schedule is the knew it would take Barry FOREVER to play Ko’olau. It is one of the hardest courses in the world, and goofy Obama probably had to send his secret service minions back to the clubhouse a couple times to buy more golf balls.
I played there once and have to say it is one of the most beautiful and intimidating courses I have ever experienced. I had such a good time, I played another 18 after I finished the first 18. If you miss the fairway on any holes, you are in dense jungle like growth. Most of the holes have long carries over ravines. Number 18 is intense, a long carry on your drive over a ravine, and then another long iron into the green over a second ravine.
I would have loved to have been around to witness Barry hacking away at Ko’olau.

Check out the views, the course is set up right against the Ko’olau Mountains. Great ocean views on a couple holes as well.

I am guessing he lost a minimum of a dozen balls, probably a lot more. 7 hours on any course is way too long, I played 36 holes there in less than 9 hours with a break for lunch between 18’s.

Police have been conducting undercover operations in the downtown Honolulu area after reports from general public that the area was a hotbed for prostitution.
Titcomb, 49, of Waialua, was arrested on suspicion of solicitation Monday night.
He allegedly offered money for sex near the intersection of South Street and Pohukaina Street at about 9:40 pm.
The more interesting part of the story is this...........Titcomb was a year behind Obama at Punahou High School, but did not graduate.
Very little is known about his background.
According to the Spring 2007 edition of the Punahou Bulletin, he worked as a commercial fisherman and a Northwest Airlines flight attendant.
A lot can be read into Barry hanging around with a male flight attendant. Titcombs dad was a judge in Hawaii as well.

Couldn't agree with you more. Part of his compensation is the use of the taxpayer supported R&R facilities at Camp David.

The pictures at the link really don’t even do the course justice. It is an awe inspiring place. I played three courses on Oahu and one on Kauai, and Ko’olau was the most memorable
toughest course I’ve played is at Rocky Point in Mexico...The Las Palomas course is brutal and get this....not one tree and no rough.....you hit the fairway or you are in the desert period....
and the weirdest part......you will NEVER find your ball

Given it is in Mexico, if you get off the fairway, they may never find you either. I like desert golf a lot as well, some of the courses in Phoenix/Scottsdale are awesome, green ribbons of fairway surrounded by cactus and desert.
Titcomb is more than just a golfing partner. Before the internet scrub, news reports were that he was soliciting guys and back in their younger days he was part of the Choom Gang.

I live in Phoenix....the desert courses here are NOT for amateurs or 1st timers cause if you cannot hit a drive 220 yards, you are in the s%&*
