Chavez alleges US behind his, and his allies' illnesses

The US consulate in Caracas has declined to comment on the allegation, so I will in my usual rational, reasonable, and logical manner.

This charge that the US has developed a means of infecting anyone - much less Latin American allies of Chavez - with cancer is loony tunes.

Bloomberg:...

It still burns me that “we” had this bastard. All they had to do was shoot him but they let his fellow traitors rescue him and put him back on the throne. He needs to die, period. Before he pulls some really psycho crap. I’ll never understand why we don’t just assassinate these creeps. It’s a lot easier than all out war. (Guess I ain’t winning the Nobel peace prize or getting appoint Sec of State anytime soon!)

I agree, but the reason why is that we're actually prohibited from doing so by executive order. During that wonderful era of the 1970s, President Ford changed U.S. policy so that U.S. government officials are banned from assassinating any foreign head of state (even the "head of state" is some ruthless dictator who seized power and commits atrocities all day). Jimmy Carter then expanded the executive order so that "No person employed by or acting on behalf of the United States Government shall engage in, or conspire to engage in, assassination", period.

They've "amended" it over the years with Reagan and Clinton, and allowed "exceptions" like wanted terrorists (hence the Bin Laden assassination), but the gist of the original executive order still stands. Attempts to outright repeal Ford's executive order remain unsuccessful.

Now... if were up to me, these evil tyrants like Chavez and Castro would get an Obama-style phone call profusely apologizing to them for the U.S. being such a rotten imperialist power, and inviting them to the U.S. for a full state dinner at the white house held in their honor where we will discuss terms on how we can mend our relationship with them and grovel for their approval. Once they arrived on a first class flight to Washington, a CIA agent would "accidentally" pump a couple bullets through their head why trying to apprehend "another guy". ;-)

Oh good thing Ron Paul's nutty fans are pretty much banned from FR. Mention you're in favor of repeal to them and they're being foaming at the mouth that you "hate liberty" and ought to be water-boarded.
