This year politics as usual gave way to a new normal. Gov. Jim Douglas, a Republican, who held the Vermont’s chief post for eight years, stepped down, and Democrat Peter Shumlin seized the reins of state government. The new governor campaigned on policy reforms in health care, energy and economic development. He also pledged to pursue fiscally conservative policies. With the help of the Democratic leadership and an overwhelming majority of party faithful in both the House of Representatives and the Senate,Shumlin easilymustered the support he needed from lawmakers in his first four months in office to make goodon those initiatives in the 2011.Meanwhile,the House GOP scrambled to make an impact on legislation without the support from the governor’s office they had come to rely on.

Not exactly "Secret" but we are very few in numbers.
My tagline (which somehow got erased) used to say: "One of only 15 or so Conservatives in Vermont"
That may be a slight exageration, but there are not many of us as evidenced by the overwhelming numbers (60%+)who voted for the Community Agitator in Chief in 08.
Until Vermont's only statewide Newspaper (Burlington Free Press--BFP) changed their rules in the begining of December (mostly to stop the few of us Cons from posting comments) and insisted we join Facebook and divulge our true identity, I posted comments for 4 years.
Of course in those 4 years, I had to assume different screen names/identity at least over 100 times as I contiued to get "Ghosted" over and over.
It didn't help that I continually criticized the BFP (part of Gannett) for refusing to publish even ONE article in 4 years which was slightly "embarassing" to he who they supported and "protected at all costs," Dear Leader and which I regularly referred to it as Pravda-lite, Bird Cage Liner and "The Rag." lol
Having grown up here in the 50's/60's VT used to be a right of center/moderate state.
That all changed when "Bronx Bernie" (Sanders) moved here and ran for political office.
To compound the problem, the Legislature passed a law allowing students (even though not residents) to vote and as we are all well aware, those young skulls full of mush (having been brainwashed) tend to vote for the "RATS"
And the rest, as the ol' saw goes, is history.
Had hoped to relocate to Florida this year, but family committments prevented that, though I'm leaving Monday for 3 months and next year, I WILL depart this People's Socialist Republic of Utopina Moonbats, for good.
WOW, I bet you felt like the red-headed stepchild more than once up there. I admire your tenacity and I wish you the very best in Florida. You’ve paid your dues.......you deserve it. :)

But the health care bill given its final passage Thursday creates a new independent board charged with “reducing the per-capita rate of growth in expenditures for health services in Vermont…enhancing the patient and health care professional experience of care…recruiting and retaining high-quality health care professionals; and achieving administrative simplification in health care financing and delivery.”
“A tall order, and senior officials of the Shumlin Administration have acknowledged that success is not guaranteed. Specifically, they recognize that if the new Board can’t accomplish the first of those tasks – getting those annual health care cost increases down – everything else in the bill will be for naught.
“Perhaps that explains why the bill calls for the new Board to make its final report shortly after next year’s gubernatorial election. Nothing would be worse for Shumlin and the Democrats than a pre-election verdict from the Board that it couldn’t figure out how to control health care costs.
“Not that the governor or his health care advisors are pessimistic on this point, and it isn’t hard to see why. Like the residents of the other 49 states, Vermonters pay roughly twice as much per person for health care than do the residents of other prosperous democracies. Considering that the people in those other democracies are healthier than Vermonters (and other Americans), figuring out a way to control health care costs should not be impossible.”
This is why I would prefer these issues to be worked out at the state level. There’s nothing stopping you, the full power and authority is there, go for it. I wish them good luck in this endeavor....or good %*(^%#@ luck, as the case may be.
Yeah, though at times a pain in the ass, I enjoy "F'n" with the Far Left Editors and those who I referred to as "goderators" (moderators) who continually scanned comments and when they (or one of the many Lib posters, hit the "abuse" button which was often, considering I used to show them up as being hypocritical and disengenuous) noticed me and did not approve of my comments (or as I often did, posted links to articles which the BFP refused to) they regularly removed ("Ghosted") me.
I fought the good fight, but was not willing (for business and personal reasons) to have everyone know who I was, so I stopped posting.
Yeah, looking forward to spending some quality time with like-minded, sane, rational, people in Fl.
Over the past 2 years (during vacations) have met some real nice folks (at the local VFW and American Legion) and it will be nice to hang around with those who are not Far Left Moonbats and Obamabots.
4 days and--and a wake up--and counting. lol
