Kelly Clarkson's endorsement of GOP presidential candidate Ron Paul has turned off some longtime fans, but it may have gained her even more new ones.
Sara Spafford Freeman, a 33-year-old communications consultant, has been a Kelly Clarkson fan since the singers "American Idol" days. But after she saw Clarksons Twitter endorsement of Paul, Spafford Freeman decided she could no longer endorse Clarkson.
I used to like Kelly Clarkson. But I can't like anyone who is either ignorant enough or arrogant enough to endorse a candidate like Ron Paul, Spafford Freeman told Fox411 on Thursday from her home in Minnesota. I have listened to Since You've Been Gone for the last time.
However, judging from sales of Clarksons most recent album Stronger since she made her Paul endorsement, the singer has attracted a lot of positive interest as well.
In the past 24 hours, Clarksons record is up 192 percent on Amazon.com, according the the entertainment site Gossipcop.com, shooting from #41 to #14.
"I love Ron Paul, Clarkson tweeted Wednesday night.. I liked him a lot during the last Republican nomination and no one gave him a chance. If he wins the nomination for the Republican party in 2012 he's got my vote. Too bad he probably won't."
Many of Clarksons Twitter followers immediately demanded that she retract her statement, but so far shes refused.
Among Clarksons critics on Twitter was user @kat_george, who tweeted:
-- Ew just found out Kelly Clarkson luvs Ron Paul lyk, 4eva and stuff. Soz Kelly, not your fan anymore.
And there was this one from @waflanagan:
-- Oh Jebus Kelly Clarkson is a Ron Paul fan. My love for you has taken a severe hit, Kelly...

What’s the point of taking a shot at her weight?
“My question as well. I thought Kellly Clarkson may have been the woman that Phil Spector murdered.”
I watched a few minutes of her video. Maybe he should have murdered her.
"YOOOW! KELLY CLARKSON!"
I'd rather have entertainment types endorse kooks like Paul than endorse kooks like Howard Dean or Al Gore.
And the main question is: Why should anyone care what she, or any other entertainer or athlete says?
“The United States has become a place where entertainers and professional athletes are mistaken for people of importance. “
Robert A. Heinlein
LoL!
Old enough that your favorite song is the Benny Goodman version of “Puttin’ on the Ritz”?
Why do I care who she endorses?
My family is involved in the music industry. Clarkson’s fanbase is VERY liberal. The liberal fans of Obama/Clarkson are somewhat pissed about the Paul endorsement.
BUT Fox (the formally conservative network) News just reported that Kelly Clarkson lost fans over her Paul endorsement.
Hmmmmm....That’s odd, her album just went from #41 to #2 on Amazon.
Fox is so out of whack lately. Must be the Willardists employed there.
Probably the only one that showers regularly as well.
she’s got back.
It’s at #2 now? Maybe some other slumping entertainers should just come out and endorse Paul or any other GOP candidate and ride the wave. They can always recant it after the primary.
Never was a fan, but she lost me because I don’t support a the anti-Jewish agenda of Ron Paul.
Sanjaya will endorse Romeny next
“but it may have gained her even more new ones. “
All the NAZIs in America.
Waiting to see who William Hung endorses. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vqmy5qrvaVQ
Ron Paul and Marshall Applewhite - separated at birth.
“Old enough that your favorite song is the Benny Goodman version of Puttin on the Ritz?”
Close. I actually like the old big band stuff, but my time was Motown, and my young adulthood was funk. The best Bennie Goodman song was “Sing Sing Sing,” but my wife and I prefer to dance to Glen Miller’s “In the Mood.”
Still laughing.
