As I sat with my extended family on Christmas, we discussed how beatable Barack Obama is. And as I listened to them run through the litany of reasons why this is so, I could only say again: If the Republicans nominate a true conservative for president, Barack Obama is done. As it is impossible for his record to hold up to the scrutiny that a Reagan-like candidate would subject it to, so too it is equally impossible to diminish the energy and support Tea Partiers would bring were they to throw their weight behind a candidate whos not just a fiscal conservative or a social conservative but a real life conservative through and through: Someone who is pro-tax cut and pro-life, pro-spending cuts and pro-traditional marriage, as well as pro-military and pro-victory in the war on terror. Granted, there arent many candidates that fit this bill. Romney certainly doesnt, Huntsman couldnt, and Ron Pauls views on our military efforts overseas and our culpability in the 9/11 attacks raise disturbing questions.
Moreover, Pauls seeming indifference toward the plight of Israel, an indifference some construe as animosity, will be more and more problematic for him when it is better publicized.
Of course, conservatives could think about Gov. Rick Perry, a staunch supporter of the right to keep and bear arms without nuances, a man who loves our military, despises big government, and understands that our enemies attacked us on 9/11 because they hate us: and that they hate us because the heritage of our Judeo-Christian culture is freedom.
When Perry entered the race, he proved he had the capacity to rally grassroots supporters in a way that none before him, save Gov. Sarah Palin, had been capable of doing. He has flaws, and I have not been shy about highlighting those when they came to my attention. However, he is consistently pro-life, pro-marriage, pro-God, and pro-states rights. When talking to friends about Perry Ive said, He never met a tax cut he didnt like. Does he debate well? Who cares. Honestly, the debates have proven to be almost fixed, as the moderators give more time to their favorites or those they consider front-runners, and that effectively shuts out others (Perry included). Besides, Im looking for a Commander-in-Chief not a debater-in-chief.
Yet if Perry fails to get traction, we will have to look elsewhere.
Enter Palin. Shes a conservative, shes proud of her country, shed be a strong ally for Israel, and shes beautiful: for these reasons the left hates her. They actually fear her, but they present it as hate to keep from showing their weakness. And I dont see any reason why see cant reassess the field and enter the race, in the event Perry fails to regain traction or if no other candidate jumps in. It seems that Palin agrees with this assessment, as just last Monday she said: It's not too late for folks to jump in. Who knows what will happen in the future."
I honestly believe Perry or Palin would be a nightmare scenario for Obama. And as Ive watched Perry speak on the fly, and heard his conviction, Ive continued to hope he regains traction. But if he doesnt, I hope Palin will jump in and fight like a girl so we can have a conservative in the White House again.
Palin could do to Obama what Reagan did to Carter, times ten. And who wouldnt pay to see her look Obama in the eye during a debate and say: A recession is when your neighbor loses his job, a depression is when you lose yours, and a recovery is when [Barack Obama] loses his.
I was let down when she decided against, was really hoping for a Palin/Gingerich or something along that line someone as VP with a lot of DC clout that could help her twist some arms the wrong way... but sadly I don’t think it’s going to happen ... I refuse to declare a party so I’ll not be voting in the Ohio primary anyway, but I will say I’d have declared in a heartbeat if she’d been on the ticket...
If enough people write her in during the primaries then maybe just maybe there is still hope.Ike was convinced by the American people to run when he had not wanted too.
Prayer and weapons check here as well.
Prayer and weapons check here as well.
This is exactly why Palin left her supporters hanging. We were led by Palin that she was going to run for the nomination, then the Glen Rice hook-up came out and she left is hanging without a real hope!
I get steamed every time I think of what could have been...
No, nor did she deny it or sue McGuinnis(SP?) for writing about it.
Indeed, just hope his numbers don't drop so low that he more or less has to quit. That's what I fear may take place.
Spelling Correction...McGinniss, first name Joe aka “the stalker”.
So, you basically believe McGinnis, who in essence, claimed Palin was an adulterous crack-whore with a fetish for black men? Okay, whatever.
Also posted on FR was a McGinniss email to a lefty blogger asking for proof of the claims and admitting that there was none. McGinniss called it only salacious gossip if they couldn't back it up.
It was pointed out By THE NEW YORK TIMES that Rice did NOT confirm the relationship in the book or anywhere else.
Did Presidents Reagan, Bush, Vice President Quayle or many assorted other GOP leaders sue those who wrote or uttered lies about them?
"Because half a dozen grasshoppers under a fern make the field ring with their importunate chink, whilst thousands of great cattle, reposed beneath the shade of the ... oak, chew their cud and are silent, pray do not imagine that those who make the noise are the only inhabitants of the field; that of course they are many in number, or that, after all, they are other than the little, shriveled, meager, hopping, though loud and troublesome, insects of the hour." ~ Edmund Burke, quoted in Daniel Hannan's The New Road to Serfdom.
The little, shriveled, meager, hopping, though loud and troublesome insects of the hour have had their say. It's time the rest of us recognized how petty they are, ignore them, and decline to let them choose our presidential candidates.
I’m pointing out the fact that after the accusation she decided she wasn’t running and left us hanging without a star conservative to vote for!
No more, No less!
He didn’t deny it either!
Exactly. It shows the mindset we are dealing with here - who needs them - that’s the bottom of the barrel, bill maher’s job.
Tell me what Sarah Palin owes you? Her childrens safety? Their peace to growup out of the smears? Her life? Just what do you think she owes you?
I don’t know, you tell me!
Did any of them quit?
Guilty until proven innocent, eh?
RICE never said it. McGinniss did. The NY Times dismissed it as false and YOU believe it? McGinniss ADMITTED it was false and couldn’t be proved.
