Joe Kennedy Once Again Cozies Up To Hugo Chavez, And Once Again Mack Says Enough Is Enough
Red Orbit ^ | December 22, 2011 | PR Newswire

Posted on 12/31/2011 3:00:39 AM PST by Darkwolf377

WASHINGTON, Dec. 22, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — In what has become an all too predictable pattern, former Massachusetts Congressman and Hugo Chavez sympathizer Joe Kennedy has once again launched television and radio advertisements praising Venezuela’s socialist dictator, Hugo Chavez. And once again, Congressman Connie Mack (FL-14), Chairman of the Western Hemisphere Subcommittee and Congress’ leading critic of Chavez’s dictatorship, has admonished Kennedy for continuing to publicly laud the Venezuelan strongman.

Mack stated: “It’s beyond shameful that Joe Kennedy continues to line his pockets with a salary from CITGO and use our nation’s less fortunate as a PR mechanism for Hugo Chavez. If Joe Kennedy really wanted to help those who need it, he should support the building of the Keystone XL Pipeline from Canada and the 20,000 good-paying private sector jobs that would result from it.”

The full text of Chairman Mack’s letter is below:

The Honorable Joseph P. Kennedy II

Chairman

Citizens Energy Corporation

88 Black Falcon Avenue

Center Lobby, Suite # 342

Boston, MA 02210

Dear Congressman Kennedy:

I am both outraged and saddened that I have to write you again to urge that you immediately cease your new ad campaign in support of Venezuelan world-class dictator Hugo Chavez, a man who suppresses the basic human rights of his people and has a strategic military alliance with Iran which threatens the security of the U.S. in our own backyard. Using our nation’s poor and disadvantaged as political tools to advance the cause of Hugo Chavez is shameful.

Given the close ties of Hugo Chavez to the government of Iran, your cause only furthers the destabilization of the Middle East and the safety of Israel as Chavez is one of the largest providers of refined gasoline to the government of Iran.

Subsidizing the nation’s unemployed with corrupt petroleum is neither the long term economic nor the national security solution our nation needs.

Instead, you should join with me in advocating for the building of the Keystone XL pipeline, which would eliminate any need to for America to purchase oil from Venezuela. Keystone not only would provide America with oil from our ally Canada, but also provide an immediate 20,000 private sector jobs to our fragile economy.

Only you can answer the question as to why you continue the pro-Chavez campaign: for the money, for the craving for the spotlight? I would imagine there would be many avenues at your disposal to help the needy instead of allying yourself with Chavez and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

Hugo Chavez is presently shipping two cargoes of gasoline per month to Iran in direct violation of Comprehensive Iran Sanctions Accountability and Disinvestment Act of 2010, so in effect what your campaign purports to do is turn a blind eye to U.S. law and use the profits of the sale of gas to Iran to fund your pro-Chavez campaign and line your pockets. This is certainly not a Profile In Courage.

The American people and I anxiously await your ending of the pro-Chavez campaign and instead supporting the construction of the Keystone XL pipeline.

Sincerely,

CONNIE MACK

Chairman, Western Hemisphere Subcommittee

Liberals want to control other people’s lives because they—the liberals—are smarter than anyone else, and know what’s best for those other, dumber people. (But they just as fervently defend their OWN liberty because, you know, they want to be free to use their smarts for their own benefit.)

Liberals like Marxist dictators because they believe in the idea of a benevolent dictator...never understanding that’s an oxymoron.

Does anyone think he has compassion for the poor or seniors? He is doing business with a dictator at our expense and his gain.

Without a doubt: Jesus.

They'd spend the whole day telling Him how to do His job.

They'd just spend a day with Marx staring in awe, and without talking, that'd be a wasted day for a lib.

I’m sorry, I must disagree with you about the motive of liberals being that they think they are smarter..Their motives come from the lust for power over other people because they KNOW they are not smarter and if others are allowed the freedom to develop, they (liberals) will be replaced in their positions by folks who truly are smarter. Actually, enslavement of others is their goal and once such dictators have theirs, they work to prevent anyone from challenging their position..That is not how free societies work. Leftists rarely act on acceptable morality such as honestly thinking they are smarter..They work in the darkness of deviancy where lives and freedom are destroyed.

Joe Sr., and Joe Jr. admired Hitler...

...”Like his father, Joe Jr. admired Adolf Hitler. Young Joe had come away impressed by Nazi rhetoric after traveling in Germany as a student in 1934. Writing at the time, Joe applauded Hitler’s insight in realizing the German people’s “need of a common enemy, someone of whom to make the goat. Someone, by whose riddance the Germans would feel they had cast out the cause of their predicament. It was excellent psychology, and it was too bad that it had to be done to the Jews.”...Copied from http://www.hnn.us/articles/697.html

I'm sorry but I get all these Kennedy's confused.

The easiest way for me to ID them is by knowing what type of drug addict they (cough-bs) 'were'. Or to which rape or girl's death they were connected. Or to which Felony they were 'originally charged with', but later, was plead down to a misdemeanor.

But dang it, that's never reported now.

NOT sarcasm!

I’ll help you out—this is the Kennedy who crippled the girl, as opposed to the one who drowned a girl, and the one who raped a girl.

And he tried to have his marriage annulled—a marriage which produced two children, an annullment his ex-wife didn’t even know about until years later.

I respectfully disagree. I work in social services, and see these folks daily.

They indeed think they are geniuses who are frustrated by their lack of control over others, who could benefit from their greatness.

Of course there are those who know they’re morons, but they’re a different kind of liberal—they fervently desire to join that (imaginary) circle of brilliant libs who will lead us all to the land of golden sunshine and free healthcare and blah blah blah.

I never heard that, which is not surprising. It wasn't that long ago I heard the pejorative term: Lace Curtain Irish.

Maybe that's because it was a 'Chicago Thing' and 'Shanty Irish' was used most often. And it's not like I was kept indoors (We were always outside 'playing'), my 'old hood', was originally Irish (very close to Bridgeport), and I had a lot of fellow 'Mick' friends.

(Being called a 'Mick' never bothered me, thought it was kinda funny. Like 'so...?')

Ah yes, Lace Curtain Irish—I’m familiar with the term, but the only person I’ve ever heard use it is my brother, and we’re second-generation Americans.

All four of my grandparents were born and raised in Ireland, but I’ve never thought of myself as anything but American.

As I always heard it, you had "lace curtain Irish", poor but trying their best to be respectable, "shanty Irish", who weren't trying very hard, and "bog Irish", who were so low they didn't get within hailing distance of respectable.

The first two categories integrate into American life quite well over time (I have some of both in my background), but the last category stay brutish and nasty, no matter how much money they get and how much education they're exposed to. I think the Kennedys qualify.

“because they KNOW they are not smarter “

DarkWolf was correct. working in a Liberal Mecca, I have observed this for years. If the liberal was a poet having brain surgery (pick your own metaphor), they would be instructing the brain surgeon on how to perform the operation. Regardless of the fact that they have no skill or training in that area of expertise, just the fact that they are an enlightened liberal with such an extraordinary intellect, makes them superior to you no matter what. You, the “expert” are just a “tool” with the brains of a screwdriver, for them to use and direct.

So, in what way does narcissism fit into their makeup?

Their heightened view of themselves borne on generational money (and in some weird way maybe, guilt),add to this narcissism to create megalomania. That an an already created political machine in MA composed of other people in their patronage system.
It is their form of fascism that results— and one shouldn't forget as pointed out on this thread, that the kennedys supported nazi germany— embarrassingly so, with Joe, Sr. trying to meet with Hitler (without informing State/FDR)that he finally resigned as amb. to Great Britain. And yet, Joe Sr. supported Sen. McCarthy to the end.
Anti-communist, pro-fascist, anti-semitic, but all liberal/progressive as long as it lines their pockets (about which see Teddy and ERISA, creating HMOs then turning his pals in tort law a career in liability suits while trashing HMOs). A family “thing”.

My Grandmother had similar observations about the Norwegians. There were the Dirt Hut Norwegians, the Mud Hut Norwegians (lived in a wetter climate) and the Projects Norwegians. Great Great Great Grandpa was a Herringer. He would take his dragon boat out and harpoon the wily herring. My ancestors migrated to the US because of the great opportunities here and the poor food in the Norwegian jails. My family mostly settled around bars with cheap prices.

Spot on, absolutely. It is why liberals constantly use academia (truly stupid academia who can be manipulated by the purse strings of grants & stipends to say what is needed) to push their “more intelligent” ends, always with an eye to their greater power and lining their pockets in the bargain. To be fair to the prior poster, along with this manipulation comes groupthink narcissism of stupid liberals, who are then consoled by their “superior” knowledge as exhibited by the “science” they say support them. It’s how stupid actors get held up as “expert witnesses” when normally they would be assigned things to say emotively.

The modern usage for this approach has now matured to “Statism”, academia AND govt fiefdoms, aided by crony market capitalists with their hands in the till (and don’t forget the hedge funds) controlled by...liberals.

Case study: global warming-using academia, Goldman Sachs to create a “carbon commodity” market (that has been closed!) and it’s government hack—al gore. Making millions with our money and a totally contrived fake system. Revived today with a discussion of “my how warm this winter is-—wonder why....well, its....”

Yes, Joe readily admits that he pulls a nice salary from his non profit.

Joe Kennedy started Citizens Energy Corporation and paid himself a modest salary, which wasn't enough to maintain his lifestyle, so he turned over the reins to his brother Michael and ran for Congress. Michael was a dirtbag in the Kennedy family style but, unlike a typical Kennedy who just leeched off of the family name, he was a very good businessman. It was he who turned CEC into a successful business and raised the salary for running it so high that Joe left Congress after Michael was killed so he could make his fortune as the head of CEC. So Joe is now back to doing what Kennedys do best -- living off of the efforts of others.

Dorothy Rabinowitz did an extraordinary expose of the whole sleazy Citizen Energy Corp - this was just before Joe’s brother and (then) successor Michael killed himself on New Year’s eve back in the 90’s: The piece was in the wall street journal and I’m sure it can be googled. Read it - then imagine how much worse Citizen’s has become in the passing years. Igor - it’s worth reposting if you have the tools...The kennedys are wedded to corruption and all the money in the world can’t slake their thurst for more...

Take your point, and know quite a few of these. As in all hierarchies there are those who feel they are “chosen” to lead— as opposed to problem solvers who might genuinely start out trying to fix something— only using tools that have been proven completely wrong by prior results.

The moron liberals as you stated well, become the "useful idiots" of these "leaders". Especially if the morons have generational wealth (like trust fund red doper diaper babies come to mind or 3rd generation wealth and a lot of guilt)-- a major component of the occupy "movement" (aside from those whose student loans are due for a useless education) that is a function of obamunista street thuggery morphed from the ACORN people.

The wikipedia site on Joseph Kennedy,Sr. reveals a good bit of this weird history of the family.

The connection to chicago politics was through his purchase of the Chicago Merchandise Mart. Another really annoying fact is that he was first head of the Securities and Exchange Commission— a thief to catch a thief, or so FDR said.

It is much easier to think of this family as a criminal enterprise involved in government. And like all political family dynasties, they have an end. Somehow the real people of free America survive all the political family machinations (kennedys, bushes), despite continual generational theft of their earnings.
