Thank you Mr. Obama and your friends at the EPA.
$4 gas helped elect Obama $4 gas will defeat Obama.
Isn’t it wonderful how the Democrat Party/Obama regime treats the American public? Maybe gas will be $6.00/gallon by election day in November.
Obamas Energy Secretary Steven Chu wants to figure out how to boost the price of gasoline to the levels in Europe. At the time he made the statement, gas cost $7 $8 a gallon in Europe
Meanwhile, this country is exporting gas at a record rate.
Is there any truth to the rumor that if the pipeline is built from Canada tar sands to Texas it is going to be shipped to China? And would it be the oil or gasoline? And if gasoline, why would we want to tie up our scarce refinery capacity to produce gasoline for China and drive up our own prices? More information definately needed!!
The the political weenies and tree huggers are destroying this country
I think that what you heard is that Canadian oil is going to China if the Keystone pipeline is not built.
I don’t think so. I do know that if the pipeline is *not* built the oil will be sold to China. That will free up a lot of Iranian oil so we can dump the current boycott restrictions on Iran and buy it ourselves.
It is unimportant where the oil is used. All oil is sold on the world market. There is no such thing as “american” oil, “chinese” oil, etc. It all goes into one big market and is bought & sold in US dollars no matter where it is produced or where it is used.
What matters is that more oil is produced which will bring the cost of oil down. Supply and demand. It’s even better if more oil is produced in america.
I found this last week.
For years, the only gasoline the U.S. exported was to Mexico -- which was a contract arrangement in exchange for Mexican crude.
The only reason we're exporting it now (and it's not much) is because U.S. consumption has declined -- and refineries have to run at or near-capacity to maintain production efficiency. And, at that, it's being exported to the Caribbean because there isn't enough pipeline capacity to ship it to the Northeast.
It's not feasible to ship gasoline from the Gulf to the Northeast via tanker because US law requires all shipments between US ports to be carried in American flag bottoms with fully unionized crew.
Because of that, it is more efficient to export the Gulf's excess to the Caribbean and import gasoline into the Northeast from, say, Nigeria.
In other words, it's not a nefarious plot by the evil oil companies...
Imagine that coupled with the photograph of the PM of Canada shaking hinds with the Chicoms over their new "Pipeline to the Pacific" deal.
It would be a secure pipeline adding about 6% to U.S. supply we wouldn’t have to buy from the Saudi’s or Venezuela. Not to mention at thousands of high paying jobs.
We B savin’ da planet doncha know.
It may!!! it’s been over $4 here in Hawaii for over a year. Right now it is $4.30 down 20cents from a few months ago. (Maui)
I'd add a caveat to this... it does matter to the extent that a concentrated foreign supply of potential enemies allows the cabal of suppliers to wield unnecessary strategic/political clout over the consumer nation, ie: us. If our suppliers are more of the Ourselves/Canadian/Norwegian/Mexican flavor, any actions by our enemies, while still having an effect on world markets, will be somewhat mitigated, and removed from affecting us in any devastating way.
It is, however a nefarious plot by the evil Marxists, unions and US Government.
Europe can get 60 mpg diesels which are not allowed in America. That at least makes the price of fuel bearable.
Saw this price prediction in the Houston Chronicle energy section over a month ago. Waiting for the conspiracy folks to speak
Is there any truth to the rumor that if the pipeline is built from Canada tar sands to Texas it is going to be shipped to China?
If Keystone is not built to the gulf coast, there is nowhere else but the west coast of Canada. From there it will go to China

That really makes it tough when you want to drive out of state
Would you like to buy a timeshare on Kauai? I’ll make you a great deal. ;>)
OBAMA: Thank you Bubba182, vote for me and I’ll allow the refineries to start up again.
Now we here about refineries shutting down and we could have a shortage of gas and diesel come spring/summer?
Bull$hit! I smell a major rat and it is not always Zero. I smell the oil companies and refineries trying to make even more huge profits and trying to blame the gov’t.
Now the gov’t does get some blame for the ridiculous amounts of gas formulas that are mandated, but I ain't buying the oil/refinery companies crying poor me.
Oil is a special commodity in my opinion that this country needs for its existence and this price manipulation needs to stop.
all part of O’s economic Jihad on us..
We are a net importer of oil.
We are a net exporter of gasoline.
Doesn’t make sense does it?
-——Doesnt make sense does it?-——
Of course it makes sense.
We buy crude, add value and sell the gasoline. That’s what business do. Purchase raw materials, use expertise and a manufacturing plant to make something and then sell at a profit.
Profit makes the world go round
All those weak sister Republicans who will not call Obama
a fabian socialist /communist owe us an apology for sugar coating this wild man’s commie obsessions.
Rush said Obama will take this country hard left as fast as possible before he’s stopped.Rush is not a prophet but he understands the subversive mindset of the communist.
“$4 gas helped elect Obama $4 gas will defeat Obama.”
You’re right; even welfare queens have to gas up. High gas prices are probably the most visible sign of the inflation we’re “not experiencing”; I suspect more people buy gas than groceries (as that is often done by just one person per household).
Oil isn't Amazon.com. Shipping ain't free.
Most of Europe’s 60mpg diesels wouldn’t pass our smog or crash regulations. When they make sure they do, they don’t get any 60mpg any more.
Other thing is eventually the Euros are going to wake up and realize what that weird stuff all over their buildings is. Hint: Diesel residue is a carcinogen.
How would you drive out of state from Hawaii? It’s an island.
How would you drive out of state from Hawaii? Its an island.
They have an interstate highway
Are you sure? I'll have to get a map.
There are four signed intrastate Interstate Highways in the State of Hawaii:
There are also four unsigned interstates in Alaska, and three in Puerto Rico. Those roads are funded as Interstates but not built to Interstate standards.
(Happiness is being a Road Geek.)
That doesn’t actually go “interstate,” yes, I know. That’s a boondoggle that should never have been built as an interstate. :P
No, you're wrong. It is actually eight main islands and more that are too small to count. But you still missed the joke.
Last I checked, the big island is called Hawaii.
Again, how do you drive out of state from that island? ;P
Yep, the big island is Hawaii, but the comment related to driving from the state ... oh, nevermind ... I’m a little too finicky when it comes to details. Happy New Year!
Having received a number of comments related to the issue of whether China will be the ultimate recipient of oil through the XL pipeline to Texas, I decided to do a little research. Here are some links for all to ponder and comment on. The first link is strongly negative.
The second link is a technical report for the Dept. of Energy.
The third explores various political and practical implications of the current delay and the argument that if we don’t build it here it will go to Vancouver.
I will be interested to see any additional information that can be developed on this highly controversial topic.
