I'd add a caveat to this... it does matter to the extent that a concentrated foreign supply of potential enemies allows the cabal of suppliers to wield unnecessary strategic/political clout over the consumer nation, ie: us. If our suppliers are more of the Ourselves/Canadian/Norwegian/Mexican flavor, any actions by our enemies, while still having an effect on world markets, will be somewhat mitigated, and removed from affecting us in any devastating way.

Europe can get 60 mpg diesels which are not allowed in America. That at least makes the price of fuel bearable.

If Keystone is not built to the gulf coast, there is nowhere else but the west coast of Canada. From there it will go to China

Now we here about refineries shutting down and we could have a shortage of gas and diesel come spring/summer?
Bull$hit! I smell a major rat and it is not always Zero. I smell the oil companies and refineries trying to make even more huge profits and trying to blame the gov’t.
Now the gov’t does get some blame for the ridiculous amounts of gas formulas that are mandated, but I ain't buying the oil/refinery companies crying poor me.
Oil is a special commodity in my opinion that this country needs for its existence and this price manipulation needs to stop.

We are a net importer of oil.
We are a net exporter of gasoline.

Of course it makes sense.
We buy crude, add value and sell the gasoline. That’s what business do. Purchase raw materials, use expertise and a manufacturing plant to make something and then sell at a profit.

You’re right; even welfare queens have to gas up. High gas prices are probably the most visible sign of the inflation we’re “not experiencing”; I suspect more people buy gas than groceries (as that is often done by just one person per household).
