Herman Cain is back [ Lynn Sweet ]

Failed GOP White House hopeful Herman Cain, who dropped out after a woman who said she was his mistress went public is staging a comeback of sorts, he announced on Monday--on the eve of the Iowa caucus.

"Our mission continues, and we're on fire for 2012 and beyond!," Cain said in an e-mail, highlighting a list of media interviews he has booked. Cain is looking to regain some spotlight in a week heavy with Republican presidential politics--that he is no longer a part of.

"....I will soon be announcing a major new initiative. This is a crusade so critical to the long term health of our American economy that we simply must prevail. The first major announcement will be live on the Sean Hannity show, next Wednesday night between 9pm and 10pm ET," Cain said.

Every man gets 9 wives, 9 mistresses, and 9 one night stands.

I don't care if you have been here since 1999, that is straight up stupid.

What could Herman Cain’s “movement” possible offer that the Tea Party doesn’t?

Black tea instead of Orange Pekoe?

Right now the Tea Party needs someone like Herman Cain. At least in my area of the USA there is not much synergy like there was in 2010. Maybe it will show up once a candidate is decided upon .

Paul, Bachman, Newt, Perry and Santoum are claiming they are the Tea Party Candidate-but the unorganized tea party folks, like me, have not raised our voices.

Dear John (I mean Herman),
I have moved on.
For several weeks I was hoping you would stand up and fight for us.
When you didn’t I flirted with Newt and even reconsidered Perry for a brief moment.
However, now I am with Santorum and am happy.
He is steady and consistent and it is what I need in my life at the moment.
I do not wish you ill.
In fact, I wish you well.

PS I hope we can still be friends.

Spot on. Maybe, just maybe he is supporting the tea party by augmenting their “operandi”. He is not establishment and he did not endorse Romney this cycle as some other poster implied, he ran against him.

Lots of establishment monkeys lurking here lately.

Reserving judgment here.

If he wants to get back into the race — and if I am convinced he is going to STAY in — I’ll be delighted.

I do seem to recall he “suspended” his campaign, he didn’t end it. So, technically speaking, he never left.

However, I am going to be less than pleased if he just plans to sit on the sidelines to yap at the parade.

We have enough pundits, analysts and backseat drivers. We need leaders.

Hmm. Either people are demanding their donations back or book sales are down. Maybe he can’t get his radio gig back and no one has offered him the vp slot or Secretary of Defense. I guess there are all kinds of reasons someone would want to “regain the spotlight” during the most critical of times.

Cain has a lot to add to the current discussion...why do you want to tune him out?

Maybe, but he lost control of the discussion. That's why he bowed out. But it seems like the reasonable thing to do is take on the invisible enemy that was using scorched earth tactics against him. If he doesn't fight, they'll destroy him and encourage more of that sort of "discourse" in the public square in all other walks of life.

That is Newt’s platform - boy I wish Mrs. Newt #3 would have a hair out of place at least one day! That GOP rich lady hair is not helping Newt. Maybe I am just too optic. When I see her I see her head in Newt’s croch on the Cogressional parking lot.

He’s not our leader, no, but an endorsement would have helped draw conservatives to a particular candidate.

Conservatives are in desperate need of unity. You’ll be as angry as me if Romney wins the nomination because conservatives split the vote too many ways. There’s nothing admirable about sitting on your hands when you have the potential to make a difference.

My frustration isn’t directed toward Herman Cain in particular, though. Just thought I’d clear that up. I actually like what he stands for, but I think he’s going about everything the wrong way.

Sure, but I wouldn’t say those are necessarily “dishonorable” reasons.

Go away, Herman.

I second that. He's just another quitter.

Liberals get in trouble and they fight back. Conservatives get in trouble and they quit. Then they preach from the sidelines.

I'm just not interested in what a quitter has to say.

Where are you big boy saving this Country?

Bring it on fool.....we'll pick your ass apart too.....

I’m just as frusterated as you, but I’d rather he did not endorse anyone. Especially not after how he went out.

Booo hoo, what have you done?

I am, to say the least, a bit confused by your comments. Are you saying that because I was never a presidential candidate, I should be forbidden from criticizing a presidential candidate?

By that logic, since I was never President of the United States, should I be forbidden from criticizing Obama?

By the way, I was a huge Cain supporter. He should have stayed and fought the charges against him. The Republic needed him to stay in the fight. As a candidate, his words carried weight. Now he is just another cricket chirping on the sidelines.
