Media hype FoS as usual. Not Rambo, just a returning soldier with a real serious problem and a Ranger in hot pursuit. May god bless and keep.

I find him to be a coward. Killed the female ranger who was a wife and mother of two young children. I find it hard to be sympathetic to him. I know he served our country and appreciate that but this Guy was out to seek and kill.

Local media has released that he died of hypothermia. Works for me.

The other thing I find interesting is that the association of retired parks employees, that opposed gun right in National Parks, is already saying this is an example of what happens when guns get in the parks. I think it proves the opposite. This guy was a suspect in the shooting of four people at a New Year's party and then headed up to the National Park to hide out. Had it not been armed rangers that caught up with him first it would have been law abiding citizens.

Not my intention at all. Just replying to the original post. I have nothing but respect for our soldiers. If I offended I apologize.

I don’t give a hoot about his military connection. He is/was a murdering piece of garbage that deserves to rot in hell, although I would have rather he had lived long enough to be dispatched by LEO’s or suffered in prison and then faced an execution.

Rest In Peace, Ranger Margaret Anderson. Prayers for comfort and solace for your young family.

That he died of hypothermia is interesting, given that the news just after the shooting was full of items about how the guy had “survival skills”. Maybe they were expecting (hoping) that he would be the next Eric Rudolph?

The shooting renewed debate about a federal law that made it legal for people to take loaded weapons into Mount Rainier. The 2010 law made possession of firearms in national parks subject to state gun laws.

Dang nabbit if only they hadn’t changed the law the authorities could have charged this dead guy with illegally carrying a loaded firearm in to that there park.

Stoopid gun lobbys.

Just in case /S

He probably did.

Unfortunate for him Mt. Rainier is not in an Iraqi desert.

Pontiac, “loaded firearm in to that there park”

Thanks. Kinda looks to Rab like the media wanted a cop killer ++, the parks svs wanted a grabber agenda feed, the military wanted an escape hatch.

Not working out, well just move along.

The parents of these 2 lost puppies just want their children back, not to be.

R.

The fellas and gals are comming home.

He was dressed in blue jeans, and a tshirt, was found in a glacial stream and you can bet that whatever his emotional state was at the time that he will be portrayed either as a survivalist or as a victim of the neocons wars. Forgive my blunt analysis, but, I have heard it all before.

I am betting that Ranger Anderson never knew she was trying to stop an armed and dangerous suspect from a Seattle shooting. I would also suspect that Barnes thought she was trying to stop him for that crime.

It might be that the only learning point from this event is how quickly law enforcement communicates its BOLOs and how quickly the Park Service disseminates that data to its rangers.

Hypothermia is a good bet, unless he shot himself first. In waist to chest deep snow and without a huge number of food calories to keep him going, this guy was doomed. That's strenuous work. And as soon as his clothes get wet, he's a goner. Even if they are dry, it will just take a bit longer in a tshirt. Totally crazy/suicidal to try that.

"I find him to be a coward."

Same here. He gives our brave soldiers a bad name. Most of us realize there are cowards like him in all walks of life.
May God bless the Park Ranger. I don't care what his problem was there was no excuse to shoot her. None Nada Zip.
Freezing to death would not be a good way to go (If there is a good way - I would vote for going out in a whore house full of whiskey).
