Typical of folks from the Northeast. They march to a much different drum than folks further to the South...

>> Try not to get too excited about the Iowa Caucus. The winner hasn’t gone on to be the nominee, then win the general election in too many years to count. <<

Ummm... the most recent Iowa caucus winner to be the nominee and then win the general election is sitting in the White House right now. Here are the numbers from 2008:

#1 Barack Obama (38%)
#2 John Edwards (30%)
#3 Hillary Clinton (29%)
#4 Bill Richardson (2%)
#5 Joe Biden (1%)

Of course there's a good chance the Iowa caucus winner won't emerge as the nominee, but the idea that the winners of the Iowa Caucus are only "flukes" that go nowhere afterwards would be news to George W. Bush and Barack Obama.

Ann seems to have parted company with Conservatives back in Jan ‘10 when she took so much heat for being part of the festivities with GOPride

Oh that's right...now I remember...just goes to show you get to close to them and they screw with your head. She should have known better... but then it now appears she's had one foot on both sides of the chair so to speak.

Michele is probably thinking "Oh goody if he drops out, I'll pick up all his votes."
Umm, Michele -- Not.

Michelle burned quite a few bridges with the supporters of some candidates, with her vicious attacks, and they ain't going to be in a mood to flock to her. Perry supporters went to Cain and then Gingrich and Santorum, they didn't go back to her, and she may not even stop and think about that.

And with CNN claiming that Perry is suspending his South Carolina campaign schedule, Michelle is probably very happy. Until new polls start rolling in, proving that she'll still be in single digits. Of course, given the competence of her campaign at times, I doubt she pays attention to the polls or why people aren't coming back to her.

I really wanted to like Michelle, but her ridiculous attacks, especially things like 6-6-6, which were about what you'd expect out of Obama, really did her campaign in.

I hope she comes around and endorses a conservative rather than Romney.

I'm done with Coulter - she was shilling for Romney when Conservative candidates could have used her support. Just like I'm done with Fox News - they push celebrity filth and sleaze as news, and they shill for Romney. Plus the Fox network pushes the homosexual agenda towards our children.

Don't know why they do this, but the Hell with them. Maybe they think if Romney gets the nomination, they'll get some favors or interviews from him.

Either ones fine with me at this juncture...if Santorum wins Newt will coach him to come across strong...he needs it...otherwise Obama has no chance against Newt..none...he’ll do him in in hte first round....in fact already has with his challenge for Lincoln Douglas...that’s a win for Newt already.

At least give the mother one month after the earliest date to know of her pregnancy to make a decision.

Pro-abort, Aroostook25, bites the dust.

If Santorum is the nominee, Obama doesn’t even need to campaign. These bible thumpers who think abortion and gay marriage are the most important things right now need to get real.

Pro-abort/pro-homosexual agenda, AFveteran gets the ZOT.

To be added or removed from the Viking Kitty/ZOT Ping List, FReepmail Darkwing104 or 50mm.

Speaking of “common sense elixer” (or kool-aide, if you prefer), you need to put the jug down and look around!

So true. Santorum is pathetic.

Pro-abort/pro-homosexual agenda , Josephmama agrees with AFveteran and joins him in the ex-FReeper pile.

Well, you're pro-abortion, so we decided to abort you. At least, our method leaves a warm body. What does your method leave? Now for the fun...

1,222 posted on Tuesday, January 03, 2012 10:35:29 PM by Slings and Arrows: “Can anyone please tell me whether Iowa assigns delegates by proportionate representation, or by winner-take-all?”

It's a little more complicated than winner-take-all or proportional representation.

Iowa is an old-fashioned traditional caucus state in which precinct delegates go to to the county conventions and then the state convention, which selects the actual state delegates.

The actual Republican National Convention delegates are elected by Iowa State Convention. In the real world, all but the winning candidate has usually dropped out by the time the national convention delegates get selected.

A serious threat of a brokered convention would change that dynamic completely and Iowa's delegates could be fought over bitterly at the state convention level since in a case like that every single delegate would count. However, we haven't had a brokered Republican convention since 1952 and haven't had a seriously contested race at the convention since 1976. Both of those are basically ancient history with little precedent-setting relevance to modern politics.

Depends on **WHICH** Southerners.

Yeah, I know it’s Dukes of Hazzard territory. It’s also the Bible Belt.

The least that can be said is that multiple adulteries won’t help. Newt lived in a wealthy suburban Georgia district as a northern transplant and he knows that.

But let’s be fair, if Newt had married a NASCAR trophy girl for this third marriage it might have helped him in some parts of the South. ;-)

This is obviously not every other election. This one has a Tea Party element that is not being counted, who predicted Santorum to have this kind of support?

Pray for America
